Apple TV+ shares official trailer for ‘Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock’ ahead of January 21 premiere

Apple already has quite a bit of family-friendly content to watch on Apple TV+. The company bet big on the Peanuts franchise, for instance. They did the same with Fraggle Rock, too, securing the streaming rights of old episodes while ordering fresh content starring the alien puppets. And now one of those new entries is set to premiere later this month.

In November of last year, Apple TV+ announced that the next entry in the Fraggle Rock universe, Back to the Rock, would debut on the streaming service on Friday, January 21, 2022. At the same time, they included a teaser trailer to show off what the new series will bring to viewers in short order. But, today, along with a release date confirmation, Apple’s providing a full trailer.

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock is Apple TV+’s official restart to the franchise. There are 13 episodes in the first season, each of which come from the Jim Henson Company for Apple TV+. They will all debut at the same time on the launch day, so you’ll be able to binge as much as you want right out of the gate.

And of course, this new series will join the original shorts collected for Fraggle Rock: Rock On! that Apple released on its streaming service back in 2021.

From today’s announcement:

Jim Henson’s fun-loving and musical Fraggles — Gobo, Red, Boober, Mokey, Wembley, Uncle Travelling Matt — alongside new Fraggles and Doozers voiced by special guests stars Patti LaBelle, Cynthia Erivo, Daveed Diggs, Ed Helms, Kenan Thompson, as well as an appearance by Foo Fighters, kick off the new year by embarking on epic, hilarious adventures about the magic that happens when we celebrate and care for our interconnected world.

Fraggle Rock has been a staple for a long time, even if there hasn’t been what someone would call an influx of new episodes released anytime recently. It’s good to see it being refreshed, and keeping with the light and airy comedy the show’s offered over the years.
