YellowPages gives jailbreakers powerful phone number identification via the native Phone app

iOS developer MiRO92 recognized that the phone-calling experience on iPhones (even the latest and greatest ones) left quite a bit to be desired. As a result, a new and free jailbreak tweak called YellowPages was conceived.

This tweak makes it easier to discern the identity of incoming and outgoing phone calls on your iPhone by using data from the Truecaller app from the App Store to identify phone numbers.

The result? A full-featured Yellow Pages shortcut throughout the Phone app’s user experience that can be used to identify phone numbers and help the user filter spam phone calls from legitimate ones:

According to the developer, the Truecaller app must be on your device when installing the YellowPages jailbreak tweak so that your device saves the necessary configurations. Once complete, you can uninstall the Truecaller app and continue using the YellowPages jailbreak tweak.

What YellowPages does is grab that data from the Truecaller app to integrate it into iOS’ Phone app. As you can see for yourself, the tweak adds buttons to several interfaces in the app to validate phone number identities, such as the dialer pad, your recent calls list, the contact view, and even when mid-phone call.

Upon installing YellowPages, users will find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where they can configure a few of the tweak’s options:

Things that you can do here include:

  • Toggling YellowPages on or off on demand
  • Configuring YellowPages to take advantage of the Truecaller app
  • Hide or show the caller’s image
  • Search or clear the YellowPages cache
  • Reset all settings to their defaults
  • Respring your device to save any changes you’ve made

If you use your jailbroken iPhone to make and receive phone calls, then YellowPages looks as if it would offer a solid upgrade over the stock user experience. Despite the fact that several caller ID add-ons already exist in the App Store, YellowPages appears to integrate more deeply with the operating system for a more fluid user experience throughout the Phone app.

Anyone interested in giving YellowPages a try can download it for free from MiRO92’s personal repository via their favorite package manager app. YellowPages supports jailbroken iOS 13 & 14 devices, and don’t forget to download the Truecaller app before installing the tweak.

Those not already taking advantage of MiRO92’s personal repository can add it to their package manager app of choice via the following URL:
