“The Problem with Jon Stewart” gets a companion podcast

The company has confirmed that “The Problem with Jon Stewart” will have its official podcast as well, according to the announcement published on the Apple website.

The companion series podcast will extend the conversation from each episode, featuring staff members from across the show who will bring us interviews with activists in the space, the facts on the issue, and yes, lots of jokes.

Apple previously released companion podcasts as a way to augment some of its popular shows, like “For All Mankind.” The Cupertino company also today shared a teaser video for “The Problem with Jon Stewart,” embedded ahead.

From the video’s description:

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the world’s problems. It’s harder to pinpoint the systems responsible for creating them. In this series, Jon Stewart brings together people impacted by different parts of a problem to discuss one big question: How do we come up with change?

“The Problem with Jon Stewart” premieres globally on Apple TV+ on Thursday, September 30.

New Apple TV+ shows typically launch with just a handful of episodes available, with new ones becoming available every week on Friday. This isn’t a rule set in stone because Apple has already experimented with different release schedules for various shows.

How to sign up for the Apple TV+ service

“The Problem with Jon Stewart” seems to be one of such shows—while the company says that fans of Jon Stewart can look forward to new episodes every other week, interestingly enough the podcast itself will receive new episodes weekly on Apple Podcasts and RSS.

You can also subscribe to the dedicated “The Problem with Jon Stewart” channel on YouTube.

This is a multi-year deal between Apple and Stewart

Apple is hoping to turn “The Problem With Jon Stewart” into a regular show, confirming that the show is part of a multi-year deal between it and the writer, producer, director and advocate.

According to the description on the Apple TV+ Press webpage:

“The Problem With Jon Stewart” is a multiple-season, single-issue series with Stewart in discussion with the people who are impacted by the issue—as well as those who have a hand in creating the impact. Together, they will discuss tangible steps that can lead to a solutionary path forward.

Apple says Stewart’s current affairs series “takes a deep dive on the issues affecting us most.”

As Stewart himself hinted in July 2021, one of the episodes will mock the current billionaire space race between Elon Musk, Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos.
