Apple Pay promotion raises funds for National Park Foundation

For every purchase made with Apple Pay from August 23 through August 29, Apple will donate unspecified funds to the National Park Foundation, as per a message on the Apple website.

We are celebrating our national parks with a donation for each Apple Pay purchase at an Apple Store, on apple.com or through the Apple Store app in the US from August 23-29.

The promo is limited to the first 100,00 transactions and is subject to a $10 minimum purchase.

The official charity of the US National Park Service (NPS) and its 418 national park sites, the National Park Foundation was established in 1967 to, among other things, raise private funds for the activities and services of the National Park Service, according to Wikipedia.

Apple also raised funds for the National Park Foundation in 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017.

Apple Watch activity challenge, too

In addition, Apple will be holding a new activity challenge this week requiring Apple Watch customers to run one mile or complete a hike, walk or wheelchair workout to net an award.

Let’s take a day to appreciate the beauty of national parks all over the world. On August 28, earn this award by recording a hike, walk, run or wheelchair workout of a mile (1.6 km) or more with any app that adds workouts to Health.

Completing the challenge will earn you a virtual medal in the Fitness app on your iPhone, as well as some exclusive stickers you can use in your iMessage chats and FaceTime video calls.
