‘Carpool Karaoke: The Series’ is making the drive over to Apple TV+ as it gets renewed for a fifth season

There is a lot of attention put on Apple TV+ these days as far as rewards are concerned. Every time one of the streaming service’s entries gets nominated, Apple makes a pretty big deal about it. Especially about the wins. What’s kind of crazy is remembering that it was Carpool Karaoke: The Series that landed the streaming service its first Primetime Emmy Award way back in 2018. But, of course, we’ve got Ted Lasso raking in the awards now, so forgetting that little tidbit isn’t too surprising.

It might also be pretty wild to hear that the legacy series for Apple, which technically kicked off the company’s efforts in television programming, is still running. And will keep going for a bit longer, because according to Deadline it has just been renewed for a fifth season. For those who need a refresher, Carpool Karaoke: The Series actually premiered on Apple Music. That’s because it debuted before Apple TV+ was a thing, so there wasn’t an alternative at the time. But it looks like that will be changed, too.

The original report says that the fifth season of the sing-along series will stream on Apple TV+ moving forward. The show is still based on the viral segment created for The Late Late Show with James Corden, so nothing’s changing in that regard. And it sounds like the fifth season will retain the overall premise: some stars get into a car, drive to a few places, and, along the way, sing songs together. For those wondering about the existing four seasons of the carpool show, those will continue to be available in Apple Music and via the Apple TV app.

for fans of the series, the bad news is that we don’t have a premiere date to share just yet. The series has just been renewed, though, so it may be a bit of time before it makes its debut on Apple TV+ as an original of the streaming service. When it does arrive, there will likely be a wide array of different celebrities, from athletes to musicians to actors, who will sit in the vehicles and sing along and have some fun together.

Past seasons have showcased Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, actor Matthew McConaughey, actress Maya Rudolph, musician Haim, athlete Rob Gronkowski, actors Keegan-Michael Key and Patricia Arquette, among many others. The roster for the upcoming season wasn’t revealed today, either.
