Apple TV+ shares the official trailer for upcoming drama series ‘The Mosquito Coast’

Earlier this year, Apple TV+ confirmed that it had yet another dramatic series on the way in the form of The Mosquito Coast. At the time, we only got a glimpse of what’s coming with a single image and a teaser trailer. But today, we get our first full look at the upcoming show.

On Wednesday, Apple TV+ uploaded the official trailer for the drama to its YouTube channel. This longer trailer comes in at over a minute longer than the initial teaser trailer, and, as such, we get plenty of new footage. The Mosquito Coast stars Justin Theroux (Mulholland Drive), Melissa George (30 Days of Night), Logan Polish (The Astronaut Farmer), and Gabriel Bateman (Child’s Play). It’s set to premiere on Friday, April 30, 2021.

Here’s the trailer:

And here’s how Apple describes the upcoming series:

A brilliant rebel (Justin Theroux) and his wife (Melissa George) take their family on the run to protect them, but end up exposing them to more danger than ever. At every turn of their adventure, they encounter increasing threats and intensifying moral choices from which there’s no turning back.

The series was written and created by Neil Cross (Luther), who will also be serving as a producer. Rupert Wyatt (His elf the Planet of the Apes) is also a producer on the series, and he’ll be directing the first couple of episodes as well. Fremantle is directing for Apple TV+.

The series is based on the book of the same name written by Paul Theroux. It’s celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, so this is good timing to a series made in its image. There will be seven episodes in total, with the first premiering on April 30.
