Plugable’s new Thunderbolt dock sports 100W of power delivery, two USB-C ports & more

Accessory vendor Plugable today released the latest addition to its Thunderbolt 3 docking station lineup. The cryptically named TBT3-UDC3 maximizes performance and keeps workflow running smoothly with a compelling 100W of power delivery while also incorporating a pair of USB-C ports for easy data transfer, two video outs, a bunch of legacy ports and more.

An upgraded version of Plugable’s popular TBT3-UDC1 docking station, the new TBT3-UDC3 brings the ability to charge the power-hungriest Mac laptops while working with a higher wattage than its predecessor, reaching up to 100W charging. It also brings two USB-C ports for quick data transfer and a pair of HDMI and DisplayPort ports for connecting external monitors.

Here are all the ports you’re getting with this accessory:

  • 1x Thunderbolt 3 (100W charging, 96W certified)
  • 2x USB 3.0 (5 Gbps data transfer each)
  • 1x USB-A (10 Gbps data transfer)
  • 2x USB-C (10 Gbps data transfer each)
  • 1x 3.5mm audio in/out
  • 1x Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1x DisplayPort/HDMI (video out)
  • 1x HDMI (4K video out at 60 Hz)
  • 1x Power input (20V, 5.5A)

Your computer gets all these ports, and charging, via a single Thunderbolt 3 connection.

If you’d like to connect two HDMI monitors, this dock has a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter for flexible connectivity — this allows you to expand your workspaces by adding up to two 4K 60Hz displays on an Intel-based Mac or a single 4K 60Hz display on an M1-powered Mac.

According to Plugable:

This dock can extend dual 4K 60Hz displays, connect two USB-C peripherals and three USB-A peripherals, and is compatible with USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 laptops – all while charging laptops at the highest certified wattage on the market. This robust feature set ensures every aspect of a user’s workflow is covered – compatibility, power, and productivity – packed in for a price that won’t break the bank.

You also get the headphone jack!

If you have a 16-inch MacBook Pro that requires a 96W USB-C power supply, rest assured that this dock can fully charge your notebook from zero to a hundred percent in only 110 minutes. Aside from the Mac, the accessory is compatible with Windows PCs that use Thunderbolt.

The TBT3-UDC3 provides a full 40Gbps bandwidth so users can extend dual 4K 60Hz displays when connected to a Thunderbolt 3 laptop. This feature provides a high-quality viewing experience, perfect for creatives who need to see detail down to the smallest pixel and casual users who want a fully immersive entertainment experience.

Using the Intel Titan Ridge chipset, the laptop dock provides more comprehensive compatibility options with USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 hosts, to the next generation of Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 systems allowing many users to connect single or dual 4K 60 displays with no drivers required.

The new Plugable TBT3-UDC3 docking station with an included two-year warranty is now available on Amazon, Newegg and Walmart for $220 a pop, with a $20 off launch coupon.
