Apple says MagSafe Duo and iPhone 12 Leather Sleeve are coming soon, priced at $129 each

As the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro Max and HomePod mini went on sale earlier this morning, Apple’s online store revealed that the MagSafe Duo charger and Apple’s first-party leather sleeve for the latest phones are coming soon, priced at $129 each. The Cupertino technology giant previously stated that both accessories would be coming “at a later stage” so this change in wording might imply that a launch could be imminent.

Available in Blue, Orange, Brown and Product(RED), the leather sleeve features a cutout on the front that works in tandem with the built-in MagSafe magnets to sense when the phone is in the case, showing the time on a color-matched background. This feature requires iOS 14.2.

Apple writes:

Made from specially tanned and finished European leather, the outside feels soft to the touch and develops a natural patina over time. The sleeve fits snugly around the curves of your iPhone and protects it from scratches and drops, without adding bulk. Inside, there’s a pocket for your credit card or ID, and it comes with a matching strap so that you can keep it close at hand, wherever you go.

The case is priced at $129 regardless of its size (5.4, 6.1 or 6.7-inches).

Earlier this week, a short hands-on video walkthrough offered a quick look at Apple’s first-party leather sleeves for the latest iPhone lineup, posted by German-language blog Macerkopf.de. As evidenced by the video embedded above, the case is made of high-quality leather, with the interior “lined with a kind of suede.” The case is smooth but non-slippery and works smoothly with the MagSafe chargers.

As for the MagSafe Duo charger, it was designed to charge an iPhone and an Apple Watch simultaneously. The device was approved just a few days ago by South Korea’s National Radio Research Agency, indicating that a launch may be imminent.

The MagSafe Duo charger is priced at $129. The regular MagSafe charger costs $39.
