Apple seeds tvOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1 Release Candidate to developers

Apple is on the cusp of releasing new software for its major platforms, and, as such, the Release Candidate for tvOS and watchOS updates has been seeded.

Apple is likely going to release new software in the very near future, and not just for the Apple Watch or Apple TV. Apple also seeded the Golden Master version of iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 last week, signaling a major update for those platforms is right around the corner as well. Today, however, the company has seeded the Release Candidate for both watchOS 7.1 and tvOS 14.2 to developers.

To update to tvOS 14.2, the latest developer beta can be downloaded onto the Apple TV through the profile installed using Xcode.

tvOS 14.2 doesn’t appear to have any major changes, and it’s likely a minor update in the grand scheme of things. Apple will likely improve general usability, but also focus on bug fixing as well.

Meanwhile, Apple also seeded the RC for watchOS 7.2 as well. To update, developers must make sure the Apple Watch has at least 50% battery, is paired and within range of the iPhone, and connected to its charger as well.

Unlike the Apple TV update, watchOS 7.1 does include some noteworthy changes. Specifically, the new software for the smartwatch lineup includes new hearing health protections, brings the ECG app to South Korea and Russia, and more.

These Release Candidates are available now for developers.
