According to Max Winebach and EverythingApplePro, the flagship version of the next iPhone will be equipped with a ProMotion screen, a 3x telephoto zoom lens out the back, a massive battery rated at more than 4,400mAh, improved Face ID and other perks.
According to Weinbach, a ProMotion upgrade has been confirmed for Apple’s flagship model of the next iPhone, boosting the screen refresh rate from sixty Hertz to double that. By drawing twice as many frames per second than currently, the next iPhone should make scrolling, playing games and other graphics-heavy activities a lot smoother.
The device will apparently dynamically manage the screen refresh rate to optimize power consumption, in a similar manner to the iPad Pro which debuted ProMotion technology.
The iPhone 12 spec report just went up with @EveryApplePro. Here are some of the highlights:
120hz iPhone 12 Pro series IS being tested. Display calibration is hard and unless Apple can perfect it, they won't do it. They won't do 90hz, 120hz nothing.— Pine (@PineLeaks) May 10, 2020
There should be improvements in the camera department, too, with the rear telephoto lens getting 3x optical zoom. Weinbach also mentions low-light Night Mode 2, a successor to the current Night Mode that debuted on the iPhone 11 family. Other camera improvements reportedly include faster autofocus, improved image stabilization, better Smart HDR with noise reduction for dimly-lit scenes and more accurate Portrait Mode depth-of-field segmentation thanks to Apple’s LiDAR scanner coming to the next iPhone.
Other mentioned features include a third-generation Face ID facial recognition system that’ll let you unlock the device at wider angles, a dual logic board along with a massive 4,400mAh battery (by comparison, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is equipped with a 3,969 mAh cell).
Some of the aforementioned improvements are probably based on Apple’s five-nanometer A14 processor that will power these devices, bringing more CPU and GPU power that is required for machine learning-powered features such as Face ID and computational photography.
What do you make of these leaks? Which rumored new features of the next iPhone are you looking forward to using the most?
