Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) is losing support for HBO GO and NOW on April 30

If you own a second- or third-generation Apple TV and are a subscriber to HBO GO or HBO NOW, the company has some bad news for you today.

Update (04/10/2020): HBO has confirmed that it will be extending support for GO and NOW subscribers with second- or third-generation Apple TV models. NOW subscribers will see support for their set-top box extended until May 15, while GO customers will have support for a few more months.

In a pair of support documents recently published for both HBO GO and HBO NOW, HBO has confirmed that both premium streaming services are losing support for the second- and third-generation Apple TV set-top boxes on April 30, 2020. The company doesn’t really offer any details on the change here, but considering the streaming boxes were released in 2010 and 2012, respectively, perhaps it’s not surprising they’re losing support.
