The global coronavirus outbreak has led to many changes, and now Apple is taking yet another precaution in a couple of states.
As first reported today by MacRumors, it looks like Apple has decided to cancel all of its Today at Apple sessions in the San Francisco, California, area, as well as in the Seattle, Washington, area. Both states have been impacted by the coronavirus outbreak and COVID-19, the disease it causes.
Doing a quick search for sessions in the aforementioned area will show that no sessions are available to attend as of now. In addition to canceling the sessions, Apple has also canceled all Field Trip programs as well. That means teachers at local schools will not be able to visit Apple Stores in these areas with their students for planned field trips.
According to the report, which is citing information gathered by an unnamed “Apple retail source”, Apple has informed stores in the areas to cancel Today at Apple sessions from Sunday, March 8, until Sunday, March 29. That’s quite the stretch.
Apple is making other changes at these stores, too. The number of chairs and stools has been reduced in an effort to give more room to visitors. And Apple has instructed Apple Store employees to clean the display products more thoroughly and more often.
This is not the first time that Apple has done something like this. Outside of the United States, Apple has already canceled all Today at Apple sessions in Italy. The company has also informed employees at Apple Park that working from home is an option as well. Apple also opted out of attending this year’s SXSW film festival, where it planned to debut a trio of Apple TV+ originals.
Depending on the situation in Washington, California, and other states, we may see Apple make even more changes.
