A set of photos shared by XDA-Developers indicate that Samsung’s iPhone rival may be called “Samsung Galaxy S20” rather than the expected “Samsung Galaxy S11” moniker.
Ahead of the unveiling next month, someone has now leaked photographs of the new model in the wild, seemingly spoiling most of the main feature announcements while revealing its name.

The photographs published by XDA-Developers include one model booting up, revealing the name as being the ‘Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G.’ While the introduction of 5G is expected, with the plus indicating it is a larger-size model of at least two, the biggest element is arguably its name.
Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S models have typically followed the same numbering system, increasing by one for each year. As the 2019 release was the Galaxy S10 line, it can be inferred the new models will use the name ‘S11,’ but the images point to Samsung switching to ‘S20’ instead.
What a way to mark the beginning of the new decade, Samsung!
The boot logo could change before these phones ship, but it’s still interesting that Samsung may skip a number of generations to go straight for the name “Galaxy S20”. XDA Developers note that “Galaxy S20+” will be actually in the middle of the S20 series rather than its flagship model, with the highest-end “Galaxy S20 Ultra” featuring enhanced camera technology.
Bloomberg reported that that model will feature a significantly improved camera system featuring a new 108-megapixel sensor with 5x optical zoom, as well as 6.4/6.7/6.9-inch sizes, a massive 5,000mAh battery, 5G connectivity across the board and 120Hz refresh rates.
The US version will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chip while the models sold outside of the US should ruin Samsung’s own Exynos 990 chip. “Whether or not the S20 that launches in your country will have 5G enabled will depend on whether or not 5G network support is launched in your country,” the article reads.

Early device renders show a minimal screen bezels, a center-aligned hole punch front camera, minimal top and bottom bezels and a large rear camera bump not unlike that of the iPhone 11 Pro which appears to house as many as four rear cameras.
Samsung previously confirmed that its next Unpacked media event will take place on February 11 in San Francisco and we fully expect the next Galaxy devices to be the main attraction.
