‘Past Meets Present’ in latest featurette for Apple TV+’s ‘Dickinson’

Dickinson was a launch series for Apple TV+ earlier this year, and now Apple has shared a new featurette for the comedy show.

On Monday, Apple shared a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the comedy series, which consists of half-hour episodes. We get to see what it looks like to shoot the series, as well as interviews with the cast and crew, including the star of the series, Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee, The Edge of Seventeen). Here’s Apple’s description of the featurette, which is entitled “Past Meets Present”.

In this poetic interpretation of Emily Dickinson’s life, creator Alena Smith demonstrates that many of the issues that Dickinson faced in the 1800s still apply to women today. Dickinson star Hailee Steinfeld shares how proud she is to bring such an impactful figure to life. Watch Dickinson now on the Apple TV app.

The title of the featurette is a nice way of describing the show, in a nutshell. While it obviously tackles plenty of material from the 1800s, and how that reflects current issues, the dialogue of the show is much more modern than the series might have you believe at first glance.

In any event, here’s the featurette:

Dickinson is written by Alena Smith, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Steinfeld. It also stars Anna Baryshnikov, Ella Hunt, Jane Krakowski, and Adrian Blake Enscoe. It’s available to stream in its entirety on Apple TV+ right now.
