Apple Store app Product Red landing pageDecember 1st is World AIDS Day, an annual event marked by the World Health Organization (WHO) dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic. Apple CEO Tim Cook noted the event with a post to Twitter acknowledging Apple’s long-time partnership with the Product(RED) brand, now in its 13th year, to raise money to fight AIDS in Africa. Cook said that Apple’s efforts have raised $220 million to date.

Cook explained:

Apple’s PRODUCT (RED) page links to all the products and accessories it makes in conjunction with the brand. They include red-clad iPhone 11, iPhone XR, iPod touch, Beats Solo3 and Beats Pill+ Portable Speakers, along with Apple Watch bands, iPhone cases, iPad Smart Covers and leather sleeves that come in red. A portion of the proceeds of each sale of those devices goes towards HIV/AIDS prevention funding.

What’s more, Apple is offering a special promotion through the end of the day on Monday, December 2nd – every Apple Pay purchase made at an Apple Store, on Apple.com or in the Apple Store app nets a $1 donation to the Global Fund (capping at $1 million).
