This tweak can delete all Messages app conversations with a tap

Chronic texters know just how easy it can be to fill iOS’ Messages app with active conversation cells, but what about when it comes time to delete them all?

You could swipe and delete each one individually or you could tap the ‘Edit’ button and select each one individually before deleting them all in one fell swoop. But a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called clearallmesg by iOS developer mr Yacine takes things one step further to make deleting messages in bulk even easier.

Just as the name implies, clearallmesg can be used to delete all conversations in the Messages app with the tap of a button. As shown in the screenshot examples above, clearallmesg puts a new ‘Delete All’ button at the top right of the Messages app after you’ve tapped on the native Edit button, enabling you to clear everything without swiping or selecting anything.

To prevent accidents, which the human race is prone to making, the developer incorporates a two-step process. Upon tapping on the Delete All button, the tweak asks you to confirm if you’re certain you want to delete all your conversations, as there’s no undoing this action.

We particularly enjoy how the tweak incorporates directly into Apple’s native Messages app interface, as it offers users a seamless message-deleting experience that seems inline with Apple’s modern design standards. Moreover, it lets you accomplish a useful task in fewer steps, which is great from an accessibility standpoint.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the tweak doesn’t come with any options to configure, as it does what it intends right out of the box.

If you’re interested in trying clearallmesg, then you can download it for free from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak supports all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices.
