Pwn20wnd teases substantial speed and stability improvements in upcoming unc0ver update

Those who’ve been closely subscribed to the jailbreak scene as of late might’ve noticed the sudden stereo silence from team unc0ver following the release of the Electra Team’s Chimera jailbreak for iOS 12.0-12.1.2, but don’t be fooled. Pwn20wnd still works on the unc0ver jailbreak to this day, but he doesn’t push updates as incrementally as before.

In a Tweet shared just this morning, Pwn20wnd said he’s been working on significant updates for both the unc0ver jailbreak tool and Cydia itself. Specific details regarding those updates aren’t yet known, but we do know that they should make things discernably faster and improve system stability:

From what we can gather, these updates are imminent but a specific timeframe has been replaced with the vague term “soon.”

Just over two weeks ago, Pwn20wnd hinted that a “major stability update” would be released “soon” with benefits such as a rewritten Unrestrict library, new sandbox patches, and kernel data locks, but that update hasn’t yet surfaced:

At the time of this writing, unc0ver v3.0.1 is still the latest version of Pwn20wnd’s jailbreak tool. It can jailbreak all versions of iOS 11.0-12.1.2 on any iOS device, but A12(X) devices are only partially-supported as of now due to the lack of a compatible Cydia Substrate for these devices. A12(X) devices won’t get Cydia or Cydia Substrate, but will have access to root. Pwn20wnd intends to implement support for Substitute on A12(X) handsets in the future as a workaround.

If you aren’t already using the unc0ver jailbreak tool, it can be downloaded from Pwn20wnd’s GitHub repository.
