Pebble creator’s iPhone case offers up to 40 charges for your AirPods

Designed by former Pebble creator Eric Migicovsky, PodCase is a brand new Kickstarter project that aims to make juicing up your wireless Apple earbuds a little easier by integrating an AirPod charger directly into an iPhone case.

“Charging an extra device every night is a pain. No one likes a mess of cables on their night stand and remembering to charge your AirPods during the day isn’t a great solution either,“ reads the Kickstarter page.

The case includes a 2,500mAh internal battery, enough to give your iPhone a full charge or your AirPods up to 40 full charges. Once the internal battery is depleted, simply recharge the case over USB-C that works with the same cable you charge your MacBook.

A durable rubber casing offers some protection for your iPhone in case of drops while built-in magnets ensure your AirPods won’t pop out when you put the phone in your back pocket.

The crowdfunded project will be available in two sizes, one for the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and the other for the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. For those wondering, of course they’re planning to design a PodCase version for iPhone 8 as well.

While this may not be a case that will easily fit into your pocket (unless you happen to wear cargo pants), the convenience of carrying and charging both your iPhone and AirPods may mitigate its somewhat bulky appearance.

“Our design keeps the case as thin as possible,” according to the company. “The thickest point is where the stem of the AirPods overlaps with the phone, but the remainder of the case is the same thickness as a standard battery case.”

An early-bird price is set to $79, going up to $89 once the case sells out. Shipments are scheduled to commence in February 2018, and after that PodCase will retail for $99.
