Oceanhorn gets iCloud save compatibility with Apple TV, flashier graphics on iPad Pro and more

Oceanhorn

Oceanhorn, the beautifully crafted fantasy adventure game from FDG Mobile Games GbR, has received an essential update in the App Store today. Bumped to version 2.7, this edition fixes the problem with iCloud save files created on the iPhone and iPad not being recognized on the Apple TV.

Those lucky iPad Pro owners will enjoy this update’s ultra quality graphics on their tablet, with an improved world map and environment decoration.

Lastly, Oceanhorn 2.7 sports a better sound engine and fixes various bugs.

I fell in love with Oceanhorn soon after its November 2013 debut in the App Store. When the game released in the Apple TV App Store, I made a mistake playing it with the same Game Center account as Oceanhorn on my iPhone and iPad.

As the iOS and tvOS editions of the game were not originally compatible in terms of iCloud save files, I had to start from scratch on my Apple TV which has resulted in the game overwriting my saved iOS progress.

Today’s update fixes that and I couldn’t be happier with it. I haven’t yet purchased an iPad Pro but plan on doing that soon and am certainly glad that Oceanhorn is now taking full advantage of the tablet’s ultra-high resolution screen.

Normally, games and apps that are not specifically optimized for the iPad Pro run scaled up on the tablet, resulting in a bit fuzzy appearance. As Oceanhorn already has truly console-grade graphics on regular-sized iPads, I can only imagine the crispness and the level of detail on the iPad Pro’s 12.9-inch screen.
