BookSong: make the Music app remember where you left off

BookSong Cydia

BookSong is one of those jailbreak tweaks that sounds a bit silly in description, but turns out to be fairly interesting when you begin using it. It’s a tweak that allows you to automatically reestablish the spot where you left off on a song even if you kill the stock Music app or perform a respring.

Without this tweak, iOS will not remember where your song left off, regardless of where you were mid tune. With BookSong, iOS remembers exactly where you left off, and picks up the jams from that exact spot. Have a look at our video walkthrough after the break to see BookSong in action.

BookSong only works with the stock Music app, so you’ll need to launch that app and begin playing a song to see it work. After starting your song of choice, adjust the playhead to a spot that you can remember, and then kill the app, or respring your device.

After reopening the stock Music app from a kill or respring, start the song again, and you’ll notice that the song picks right up where it left off. It’s like a bookmark for your music, hence the name.

BookSong

The really cool thing about BookSong is that the bookmarking works for multiple songs. This means that you can switch between many songs and pick up right were you left off on each tune.

Unfortunately there or no options or settings to control how songs are bookmarked, or even control how many songs are bookmarked at any given time. There’s also no easy way to clear bookmarks and start from scratch. I’d love to see this tweak fleshed out a bit, because the actual concept is pretty cool when you think about it.

BookSong is a free jailbreak tweak available on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. Like always, sound off in the comment section below with your thoughts and opinions on the tweak.
