With news aggregates like Flipboard and Pulse, we have the blogging world at our fingertips. However, we don’t always want to read the news. Sometimes we want to veg out watching bite-sized stories that interest us the most.

Watchup: Your Daily Newscast brings together popular video clips of news that is relevant to your personal taste. Instead of turning on CNN only to watch hours of boring segments in hopes of seeing something that interests you, this app lets you tailor your news-watching experience…

The app lets you choose from a list of topics, including technology, entertainment, business, sports, and more. Then, the app loads video clips based on your selection that you can watch in a continuous stream.

Videos come from a variety of sources on the Internet, and run anywhere from one minute to 10 minutes. If you find yourself uninterested in a current topic, you can fast forward or even skip it altogether. The video playback controls include fast forward, rewind, skip back, skip ahead, and volume adjustments. You can also adjust your playback for 720p high resolution, limited bandwith, or medium quality.

You can give a thumbs up or thumbs down to videos to further fine-tune your news watching experience. The more you provide feedback on the types of videos you want to watch, the more the app will find videos you are interested in. It will also filter out news that it doesn’t think you want to see.

If you want to know more about a subject that you are watching, you can call up the additional material menu to read other articles from around the web. Tap the newspaper icon in the upper right corner to automatically search for related articles. You can then select something to read and go directly to the web page. The article screen never fills more than half the screen, so you can keep watching video clips while you read.

To make it even better, you can really get into the meat of the content by following or unfollowing different channels. If you select Entertainment for one of your categories, you may not want to see videos from TMZ. When a video is playing, you can unfollow the channel. Or, tap the channel menu in the upper left corner of the screen to edit who you want to follow individually.

Watchup is free to download and available on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Download it in the App Store today.
