Facebook Messenger for iPhone updated with Instagram support and more

facebook messenger 26

Facebook updated its popular Messenger app for iPhone this afternoon, for the first time since May. The update brings the app to version 2.6, and brings about a handful of useful improvements and bug fixes.

Among the improvements is deeper integration with Instagram. Users can now pick photos from their Instagram albums, as well as any other album, on their iPhone and attache them in a Facebook message…

Here’s your full 2.6 change log:

Now it’s easier to send photos and emoji:
– Just tap the paper clip from any message
– Choose photos from Instagram and any other album on your phone

Don’t forget about stickers: Tap the smiley to see what’s new in the sticker store.

Bug fixes

Admittedly, the update doesn’t bring a whole lot to the table in terms of new features. But folks who use Instagram on a regular basis will really appreciate the ability to attache photos directly from their albums.

Facebook also updated its News Feed today. The new version of the social network stream, which started rolling out this morning, includes a new ‘story bumping’ feature that automatically upvotes relevant posts.

As for the Messenger update, it’s available for current owners in the App Store under the ‘Updates’ tab. New users can download it for the iPhone, for free, by clicking here.
