Apple Did Not Lose an iPhone 5 Prototype

A couple days ago, we were telling you the crazy story of Apple losing yet another iPhone prototype. Like me, you probably were very skeptical when you first read about an Apple employee losing an iPhone 5 prototype in a bar in San Francisco.

The story took a more believable turn when we realized that the source was CNET, a respectable and trustworthy online publication that all of you have heard of before. It was still an incredible story, but because it came from CNET, we didn't think twice about reporting it, just like every other blog out there.

Things fell apart yesterday when The San Francisco Weekly revealed that the city Police had no record of any complaint from Apple or any investigation going on about that matter. In short, Apple never lost an iPhone 5 prototype...

Sn0wBreeze Updated for iOS 5 Beta 7 Support

Today, jailbreak hacker iH8sn0w released Sn0wbreeze v2.8b7. This update now includes support for iOS 5 Beta 7. Sn0wbreeze is a jailbreak tool for Windows. Also, if you are new to jailbreaking, you can check our general guide here, and our Sn0wbreeze guide here.

The last couple releases of Sn0wbreeze let you use iOS 5 betas without having a developer account and an activated UDID. Along with that, it removes the expiration of betas, making sure the beta will not expire on your device as it is supposed to do at a preset date and time...

Help Make this Cool iOS Jailbreak Game

It's a rare occasion that we stumble across a good game in Cydia, so it caught our eye when iEnthusiast mentioned that developer "ntrfc0" is working on a Zelda-themed iOS game for jailbreakers.

He has good ideas for the game, but he needs help from the community...

Good Mockup of Alleged iPhone 5 Design Compared with iPhone 4

Remember that alleged next gen iPhone 5 icon we showed you in the Photo Stream beta yesterday? It was an interesting find because it was designed by Apple internally, and it looked to be a slightly redesigned iPhone with features that match rumors we've been hearing about the iPhone 5.

9to5Mac has put together a comparison of the blown up iPhone '5' icon and the iPhone 4. You'll notice a slightly smaller screen and a redesigned home button...

Suspects in Last Year’s iPhone 4 Prototype Scandal Plead Not Guilty

Two men charged with misdemeanor theft charges on the leaked iPhone 4 prototype scandal from last year have pled not guilty in court. If you recall, an iPhone 4 prototype was found in a bar in Redwood City, California and then sold to gadget blog Gizmodo for $5,000.

Gizmodo was cleared of charges last month, but two suspects that allegedly found the prototype are now being charged...

Did Apple Hire Jailbreak Hacker Comex Out of Embarrassment?

Apple recently hired prolific jailbreak hacker Nicholas Allegra, aka Comex. He is well known for his work on the web based jailbreak tool JailbreakMe. He was also the first person to publish a jailbreak for the iPad 2.

Comex's hacking abilities have been compared to that of high-level cyber criminal that attacks government infrastructures. Being singlehandedly responsible for Apple releasing new versions of iOS to patch his exploits, many believed that Comex was hired by Apple to work on patching security vulnerabilities from the inside.

We've learned that Apple could have hired Comex for more than just his talent...

LG’s New Robotic Vacuum Can Be Controlled By Your iPhone

Robots might be set to take over the world, but if they're anything at all like LG's new robotic vacuum, we'll be able to control them using our iPhones.

The Roboking VR680VMNC, or "Rob" as his friends call him, is a robotic vacuum that packs three cameras and connects to your home's WiFi network, enabling iPhone users to control the device from the comfort of their handsets.

The on-board cameras stream video back to the iPhone app, too, turning the Roboking into an exceptionally mobile security camera...

Apple Details Smart iDevice Diagnostic Tool in Patent

It's Apple patent time again here at iDownloadbBlog, and the latest to be discovered by Patently Apple points to a fancy new iTunes based diagnostic tool for iOS devices.

The new tool will create and monitor in-depth change logs, as well as check things like the device's location and other physical conditions. The idea is that the logs show what a device was doing and where it was doing it at definable points in time. The patent mentions the logs could be generated at every restart, every day, or every time a particular action is performed...

iOS 5 Beta 7 Proves iTunes Match Really Isn’t a Streaming Service

Soon after the iTunes Match beta went live earlier this week, reports started flooding in that the service did indeed support the streaming of music, a feature that wasn't advertised by Apple during the iCloud announcement. Many were originally disappointed that streaming was not included in iTunes Match, so the news that it was actually there was met with glee and happiness all around.

What people had discovered was that if you tapped on a song stored in iCloud, it started playing. If you started a new one and then went back after turning on Airplane Mode, the original song hadn't cached, which led people to believe it was streaming. But after Apple denied that streaming was included in iCloud, more questions starting being asked...

Apple Releases New iPad Ad: Learn

Apple has launched another new ad to show off its iPad 2, with the theme this time around being learning.

Running just 31 seconds long, the new commercial runs through a variety of apps, with the common theme being that we can all learn something new, whether it be a new language, a new skill, or even mastering a skill we didn't know we had...
