Apple Retail Stores Granted “Special Attention” During UK Riots

While agressive protestors were busy burning down various buildings and businesses across the UK, reports suggest Apple retail stores were granted "special attention" by the Metropolitan Police.

The first report suggests that while a 20,000 square meter Sony warehouse was being burned down, the Police were treating the protection of an Apple Store at the Oxford Circus in London as a higher priority...

Whoopsie! Nokia Uses iPhone 4 in Advertisement

This post could have been titled "How to lose your job at Nokia in just one advertisement," and that's probably what will happen to one, or several, Nokia employees that definitely have no attention for detail.

This ad was spotted in an Australian mall. As you can tell, the woman in this picture is actually using an iPhone 4...

Popular iPad App “MyPad for Facebook” Now Available for iPhone

Facebook Messenger was not the only Facebook iPhone app released this week, with it came the MyPad for Facebook app.

MyPad was released for the iPad over a year ago and has been a huge success ever since, with reports claiming it has been installed on over 5 million iPads, with over 2 million active users a week. One of the main reasons for its success is it's both unique and beautiful user interface.

With MyPad's migration to the iPhone, do users finally have an above average Facebook app? Unfortunately, the answer is still no...

Apple Wants to Buy Back Your Old iDevices

Are you itching to get rid of your old iPhone to make room for the iPhone 5 this Fall? What about an extra iPad, iPod, or even computer lying around the house? Apple wants to buy back your old tech!

Apple's electronics recycling program allows you to mail in old Apple products in exchange for a gift card. If the device is in good enough shape, you'll get pretty decent compensation for that old iPhone that would have probably just sat on your desk otherwise.

iPhone 5 Rumor Roundup Video

With the rumored iPhone 5 launch nearing, as expected, there's quite a few rumors floating around. These rumors include anything from a major to minor hardware overhaul, improved camera, larger screen size, storage capacities, and much more.

The folks over at Nowhereelse.fr have created a video outlining all of the rumors that have been floating around, and the video provide an estimated percentage of the likelihood those rumors will come true...

Apple Now the Most Valuable Company in the World

Yesterday we told you that, for the first time, Apple had briefly become the most valuable company in the world, dethroning Exxon for a few minutes, and ending the day at the #2 spot.

Today, for the first time ever, Apple ended the trading day ahead of Exxon, and Apple is now the company with the largest market capitalization...

Apple Now Blocking Samsung Galaxy Tab Sales in Europe

For those of you who missed it, Samsung agreed to delay the launch of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia last week. The move was in direct response to an injunction filed by Apple, who's claiming that Samsung has infringed on some of their patents.

The legal feud has been going on for several months, but it has started to get interesting over the last few weeks. Not only has Apple delayed the Galaxy's Tab launch down under, reports are coming in that they've blocked the tablet in Europe, too...

Your Apple ID is Limited to 10 Devices

Apple has always limited users to a certain number of devices for authorization with a specific Apple ID. The rules and terms of multiple device syncing with an Apple ID have always been a little confusing, with the introduction of iCloud posing an even bigger problem for how purchased content can be distributed and synced across multiple devices.

Apparently, the system of Apple ID authorization isn't as smooth as we all thought it was. You're actually limited to 10 total devices for one Apple ID...

Verizon Expected the iPhone 5 in June, Not this Fall

With a statement that only proves how thick Apple's iron curtain of secrecy really is, Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo made a comment today at the Oppenheimer Technology & Communications Conference that Verizon expected Apple to release the iPhone 5 this Summer.

Fran Shammo isn't exactly known for keeping a lid on Apple-related news, as he also said earlier this year that Apple's next smartphone would be a "global device."

Reason Why the New Facebook Messenger App is Not Yet in the UK App Store [Updated]

UPDATE: Readers are pointing out that Facebook Messenger is actually not available in many countries outside the US, including the UK. We apologize for any misleading information.

It's well known that the UK is under threat by its own people right now; but who'd think that it would affect an iPhone app's arrival in the App Store.

The Facebook Messenger app was released in the US App Store yesterday, and great speculation has been raised as to why it has not yet had its UK App Store release. The answer is simple: to prevent further planning of rioting via instant messaging...

Gizmodo iPhone 4 Case Finally Coming to an End

I think most of you folks will recall the infamous iPhone 4 debacle that occurred last Spring. Months before the device's official release, an Apple engineer left his test unit at a bar in San Jose, California.

Not only did someone pick it up, but they negotiated a deal to sell the thing to Gizmodo. As serious as Apple is about secrecy, and given Steve Jobs' passionate temper, a lot of folks figured this kid wouldn't live through the weekend...

Amazon Launches Kindle Cloud Reader

Here's one giant kick in the teeth for Apple and its App Store policies.

Amazon has today launched its new Amazon Kindle Cloud Reader web app, which offers the full Kindle library as an HTML web page, offering the ability to read, and, more importantly, buy books from your browser. That's more important because it means Amazon no longer has to abide by Apple's laws for the selling of content inside an iOS app.

It also means Apple loses out on 30% of the revenue...
