iPhone Nano: Why it’s Becoming a Serious Possiblity

Judging by the latest round of iDevice rumors, Apple could really be looking to shake things up this Fall. Instead of their typical refresh of the stand-alone iPhone model, many folks are expecting the Cupertino company to unveil two new smartphone devices.

One model is expected to be a feature-packed high-end device, and the other, a supplemental "iPhone Nano" model for the low-end market. We've been hearing the iPhone Nano rumors for quite a while now, and have even started a few of our own.

But even with the mounds of evidence suggesting the device is in the works, it still seems inconceivable that Apple would break its tradition of producing high quality, expensive products. Or does it?

Another Beautiful iPhone 5 Concept Design

This Fall's impending iPhone launch hasn't only been a hotbed for rumors and speculation, it's also attracted a slew of talented designers. Artists have been using their skills to form beautiful concepts of what Apple's next smartphone may look like.

We've already shown you 2 amazing designs by Michal Bonikowski and Antoine Breiux, but both of them seemed a bit farfetched. However, the latest rendering floating around the web seems to be more in line with expectations for the next iPhone...

Apple’s iAd Struggles to Gain Traction, Prices Slashed

Apple's iAd mobile advertising platform is currently struggling to gain traction, with cut price deals now available, according to reports.

Launched back in April 2010, iAd was dubbed 'mobile ads with emotion' by Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs, just before he slapped a minimum ad buy-in price of $1 million on the service.

Now though, it seems Apple has lowered its targets for iAd considerably, with the original $1 million price a distant memory...

OmniStat: System Details in Your Notification Center

We've seen a slew of iOS 5 widgets over the last couple of days. For those who don't know, Apple released a beta version of their new iOS software a few weeks ago, and the jailbreak community has marked their territory in the Notification Center drop down menu.

So far there's been no word from Apple yet on whether or not 3rd party developers are going get to use the space to create custom widgets, but that hasn't stopped jailbreak developers. One of the latest widgets to surface is OmniStat...

Comex to Fix Issue with Camera Connection Kit on iPads Jailbroken with JailbreakMe

Yesterday we told you about an issue that could be reproduced on iPads jailbroken with JailbreakMe when trying to use Apple's Camera Connection Kit. If you own an iPad jailbroken with JailbreakMe, you can't use the Camera Kit for the time being.

Comex has been aware of the issue, and today he announced on Twitter that he has a fix coming up this Friday. According to Comex, the fix will be available in Cydia as a new package to install...

iPhone Tracks Down and Helps Arrest Burglars

We love these types of stories on iDB. When the iPhone is used to thwart criminals, it's always fun to read about.

The story of Lilli Gordon and her missing iPhone details how the smartphone's GPS was used by authorities to track down the thieves and Lilli's stolen valuables. Hopefully stories like this will teach would-be-prowlers that smartphones aren't the best items to steal...

Time Warner Cable App Flips the Finger at Jailbreakers, and How to Bypass This Restriction

The Warner Cable app for iPad just got an update, and if you're a jailbreaker, you might want to stay away from it. The app that lets you watch cable TV on your iPad - assuming you are in your home - is now showing an error message to anyone using the app with a jailbroken iPad.

It's actually kinda odd that such an app would have anti-jailbreak measures. My guess is that they want to prevent jailbreak developers from coming up with a way to use the TWC app from outside the house...

Spotify Finally Coming to the US

Spotify, the popular music streaming service, has been available in some European countries since 2008, gathering new members every day. Now it looks like it's time for them to take the plunge and start offering their services in the US, too. If you navigate to their website, you can sign up by entering your email, and you will be notified as soon as they open for business.

With over 10 million registered users, 1 million of which are paying members, Spotify is one of the best services of its kind. What makes it so special is the fact that you can access it via a browser, or download the dedicated apps for iOS or Mac OS X. These apps have a gorgeous design and if you’re daring enough, they could even replace iTunes and the iPod app...

Apple Getting Ready to Bring iPad HD to Market?

This Fall could see the release of a new, high-spec iPad model aimed squarely at the professional market, if claims by This is my next are correct.

In a post on the placeholder site for the former Engadget crew, Joshua Topolsky explains that the team's sources claim this Fall will bring a new entry into the iPad family, with the new device receiving the 'iPad HD' designation.

But what's so interesting about this new entry into a fast-growing tablet market? Well, the clue is in the name...

Former Flextronics Executive Pleads Guilty to iPad and iPhone Leaks

Ah, the illustrious Apple rumor mill. It seems like every time the Cupertino company is expected to (even when they're not) announce a new product, the entire web is buzzing with the latest Apple gossip.

Typically, we disregard the articles with titles that begin with "analyst claims." It seems like everyone and their dog has their own "source" inside Apple's never-ending supply chain.

But every once in a while, the tipster is legitimate. Why doesn't it happen very often? Because the people that really do give away information regarding Apple's secret projects go to jail...

Leaked Photo of iPhone 5 Prototype Running on China Mobile [Updated]

We actually haven't seen too many "leaked photos" of Apple's next smartphone over the last few weeks. We've seen some really cool concepts of what the device might look like, but nothing claiming to be the actual device.

Today, 9to5Mac passes along this photo, of what appears to be the next iPhone, that has been circling the gadget blogs this morning. Though the photo doesn't offer much information regarding the design of the device, the mysterious gadget does seem to be running a version of iOS...
