Justin Williams tweeted the above picture from p0sixninja’s hotel room last night. The group was enjoying a little R&R after a heavy day of hacking at this year’s Defcon convention. The annual event highlights new exploits and popular topics in the security community.
If you’ve been jailbreaking for a while, chances are you’ll recognize a few people in the picture above. Instantly identifiable are Saurik, the mastermind behind Cydia, and the original iPhone hacker GeoHot… Read More

Last week, iOS hacker and member of the Chronic Dev Team p0sixninja was quoted saying it was just a matter of weeks until the team releases an update to their jailbreak tool GreenPois0n, which was supposedly going to work with the iPad 2 as well.
It seems that p0sixninja spoke a little too fast, and got every jailbreaker out there a little too excited. In order to make things clearer, the team posted an update on their blog today. This update covers the iPad 2 jailbreak and support for iOS 4.3.x in GreenPois0n… Read More

The jailbreak community holds its breath as iOS hackers work diligently on a 4.3 jailbreak solution. With their latest firmware, Apple introduced ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization), which is making the process a little more difficult for jailbreakers. Current jailbreak methods are available, but are extremely limited.
But things look positive as hackers Comex and i0n1c have already shown off their jailbroken iOS 4.3 devices. Now you might be wondering, “If they can jailbreak their devices, why don’t they just release it to everyone?” Well, when these guys jailbreak their devices, they don’t plug their iPhone into the computer and click a button….

Could it really be true? After years of complaints from disgruntled iTunes users, could the Dev Team be working on an iTunes replacement for the jailbreak community?
While it does seem too good to be true, there is a definite chance that jailbreakers will have their own iTunes-like app that works specifically for jailbroken iDevices. A famous jailbreak developer has raised speculation that the Dev Team is in fact working on an alternative for iTunes.

According to a recent tweet from P0sixNinja, the iPhone hacker behind GreenPois0n, an updated version of the jailbreak will be released as soon as he finishes adding the new sandbox patches.
There are good reasons to think that this jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 will be a tethered jailbreak, thus requiring you to plug your iPhone in and boot it with GreenPois0n every time you shut down your iPhone… Read More

Looking at the drama going on between MuscleNerd and P0sixNinja on Twitter, I feel like I am watching a full season of the Young and the Restless. Quick heads up for those of you who didn’t follow the whole conversation.
A few months ago, hacker pod2g found a bootrom exploit in iOS 4.0.1 which was quickly named SHAtter. Chronic Dev Team later started using SHAtter for their GreenPois0n jailbreak for iOS 4.1. Then GeoHot came in the game with a new exploit that he was going to use no matter what in his LimeRa1n jailbreak. At this time, Chronic Dev didn’t have a choice but to put SHAtter on the side for later, and use GeoHot’s exploit.
Everything was going fine until rumors started going around that SHAtter had been leaked… Read More

After weeks of expectation, we can finally tell you for sure when the GreenPois0n jailbreak for iPhone will be released. According to P0sixninja, the new jailbreak tool will be released on Sunday, October 10 at 10.10 am GMT.
This is some good news for those of you who’ve been on 4.1 for a while. At this time, there is no indication if GreenPois0n will be the actual name of the tool. There is also no indication whether or not it will be tethered and for what device and iOS version it will work… Read More
