Instagram introduces post scheduling for business accounts

The Instagram Graph API (built on the Facebook Graph API) has added the ability for businesses and brands to easily create scheduled posts in Instagram Partners apps like Hootsuite and through service such as Facebook Marketing Partners.

According to the company, this is in addition to the previously added Graph API features like viewing organic insights and comment moderation.

The refreshed API provides additional enhancements, including viewing other business accounts and seeing all the posts your business account has been tagged in. These changes should help businesses and brands manage their organic presence more effectively.

“These added features allow for better content planning and secure account management, removing the need for employees to share login credentials to gain account access to insights or create a post,” the firm wrote.

Post scheduling and publishing of Instagram content has been the number one request for Hootsuite’s 16 million customers. To give developers time to migrate to the new Graph API, Instagram will be ending support for the original Instagram API by early 2020.
