Gmail 5.0.3 for iOS teaser 001

Google today pushed an update to Gmail for iOS, bringing out several new productivity-focused enhancements. Gmail 5.0.3 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, a free download from the App Store, has been overhauled to make navigation easier than before. More importantly, the refreshed mobile Gmail client packs in an Undo Send feature, improved search with spelling suggestions, a new swipe to archive or delete feature and more.

In addition to a fresh new look, Gmail on mobile now features sleeker transitions and animations throughout the app. In Gmail 5.0.3 for iOS, the Undo Send feature that has been available in the desktop Gmail interface is now finally available on mobile devices.

As the name suggests, Undo Send lets you prevent embarrassing mistakes by retracting accidental emails within a period of time defined in the app’s settings.

Sound like Outlook for iOS and Android… The said it seems to have a few additions. Me I’d like desktop Outlook on my mobile, but I would wouldn’t I… πŸ™‚

  • This could have been my new stock mail app but it doesn’t have 3D Touch support.

  • Still no Apple Watch application to view the inbox or the ability to reply to the email using voice.

Now Gmail, next week the inbox app. I find google support for similar apps so confusing πŸ™

A disaster. No way to delete the horrible unneeded folders. Inbox is gone.
    No way to arrange/sort folders.
Gmail on iOS does not sync the settings of Gmail for desktop.

WTF are you talking about? Inbox is still there. You can manage you “folders” (these are called labels, btw, because you can put many labels on a message) in the settings.
Just because you don’t know how to use an app doesn’t make it a disaster.

There is no inbox and you can’t manage anything in settings nor delete those stupid labels/folders

    Finally!

I find this almost useless now that I can’t swipe between messages. How clunky to have to back out before selecting another message. I want to downgrade!

I wish I had that undo feature a few months ago… sent some bad emails then

  • Anna1968

This is a nightmare. No swiping between emails, no possibility to NOT organize by thread, and an annoying new email sound that I don’t seem to be able to change. I’m going to back to Apple Mail, as much as I love the Google folders…
