A couple of threads are currently growing on Reddit and the Apple Support Communities forums, with a significant number of lucky owners of the iPad Pro complaining that their device becomes unresponsive after being charged for a lengthy period. This typically occurs during overnight charging.
The annoying issues causes the device to require a hard restart to restore functionality. Apple had not commented on the hiccup publicly at the time of this writing, and almost certainly will not.
According to posters, this behavior is exhibited across both Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + Cellular models of the iPad Pro, regardless of storage capacity.
The iPad Pro comes preinstalled with iOS 9.1 and some people claim that restoring their device to factory settings solves the problem. Another band-aid solution involves performing a cold restart of the device, which can be easily accomplished by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously for at least ten seconds.
Then, let go of the buttons when an Apple logo appears on the screen.
I don’t own an iPad Pro (yet) so can’t vouch for the veracity of these complaints, but MacRumors confirmed that the issue has affected one of their iPad Pros since last Wednesday.
In fact, the nature of the problem suggests that this might be fixable with a software update though we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of a hardware defect plaguing an unknown number of unfortunate users.
Assuming your own an iPad Pro, have you experienced any slowdowns after charging the device for a lengthy amount of time?
