Gorgeous puzzler Monument Valley is Starbucks’ Free App of the Week

Monument Valley

If you haven’t tried out Monument Valley yet, you’re missing out on an unforgettable experience. This is quite easily one of the best, and certainly among the most beautifully done platform games available on the iPhone and iPad.

If you live in North America and are a fan of Starbucks, the unique game, which costs $3.99 in the App Store, can now be yours in exchange for zero bucks as it’s currently Starbucks’ Free App of the Week.

The surreal puzzler created by Ustwo, the team that brought us Blip Blup and Whale Trail, challenges you to manipulate impossible architecture and guide the silent princess Ida through a stunningly beautiful world.

Seriously, you don want to miss this one out.

Just waltz inside your nearest Starbucks, grab yourself a latte and redeem this gem of a game off of their Wi-Fi. The promotion was confirmed by Ustwo co-founder Miles on Twitter.

As revealed by Twitter user Michelle Mauk, Starbucks locations in the United States, Mexico and Canada should have received the Monument Valley promotional cards by now.

It’s important to note that the promotion is limited to the physical cards in the Starbucks coffee shops and excludes the Starbucks app, which has a different freebie every week than what you’ll find on the physical cards.

The ‘Forgotten Shores’ expansion, which adds an additional eight levels, is not included in this promotion but you can grab your free copy of Monument Valley through Starbucks and then upgrade to Forgotten Shores for $1.99 through the In-App Purchase mechanism.

Monument Valley is the winner of Apple Design Award 2014 and was named Game of the Year 2014 by Apple’s in-house editors.

The 288-megabyte game requires an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with iOS 6.0 or later and features native display support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Monument Valley is a $3.99 value in the App Store.
