Return Recent Apps

Developer William Vabrinskas, creator of jailbreak tweaks like Boxy and InstaURL, is back with a brand new tweak that’s sure to turn some heads. His new tweak is called Return, and although it’s not yet available on Cydia, it should be soon.

Return allows users to access recently used apps via a launcher placed at the top of the Control Center interface. Instead of wasting the available real estate, Return makes use of the empty area above Control Center by populating it with recently used apps.

Once Return is installed, you’ll find a preference panel in the stock Settings app for configuring the tweak. Below the kill switch, you’ll find options to switch to a card based view over an app icon view, alter the scroll direction between horizontal and vertical, and choose the number of icons and rows to display.

Return Preferences

There are also finer adjustments, like the ability to use a slider to change corner radius. A slider to change the animation duration is included as well.

I personally prefer to nullify the corner radius, and keep the animation duration somewhere in the middle. I also like to hide icon labels, and use card previews instead of icons.

Return

If configured correctly, Return can look very polished. I have to admit that I was skeptical when I first heard about the tweak, but after using it for a few days, I’ve grown to like it. It makes accessing recent apps easy, and it looks good to boot.

What do you think about Return? Once available on Cydia’s ModMyi repo, it’ll be $0.99.

All of these coming soon videos are making me angry but in a good way. thanks for the heads up Jeff Benjamin

Could you swipe and kill apps rather than just press that X button to dismiss all recents? Honestly i like this idea better than auxo legacy even though i like Auxo LE. If this could allow me to use it like an appswitcher and also swipe and dismiss apps i want to this would be perfect.

Sooooo…..just an alternative to app switcher without having to put wear and tear on double-clicking the home button without an app killer? What ev.

  • Which one would you prefer between Stratos, Auxo Legacy or Return?

And why is it that this tweak looks extremely familiar?

    Cc quick pro is better

    • Thanks! I will check that one out

Tage is the perfect app switcher for me. Once I started using it, I never went back.

Combine this with Auxo Legacy and Tage and that’s my perfect multitasking setup. Access to card previews plus Auxo Legacy’s split playback controls and toggles and I’m good.
