WhatsApp read receipts

WhatsApp for iPhone got updated Thursday with three noteworthy improvements. For starters, it now honors your preferred font size set in Settings > General > Accessibility > Larger Text so all text labels throughout the app get rendered in your chosen typeface size.

There’s also a new call button in chats. Lastly, a built-in image chooser has been redesigned so you can now quickly add recent images from your Camera Roll right after tapping on the camera icon in chats.

Here’s an improved image-picker interface available after tapping on the quick camera button in chats. Previously, tapping the icon would only let you snap an image, not browse your Camera Roll at the same time.

You’ll also notice a new Call button near the person’s profile picture in the top right of the chat interface. It’s now what you think — as it is now, tapping that button simply places a cellular phone call through the stock iOS Phone app.

For what it’s worth, WhatsApp is expected to roll out VoIP calling later this year so it’s a safe bet that the new call button may soon let you place voice calls over the Internet.

WhatsApp was refreshed with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus support back in November, and over time has added new useful features such as message encryption, a desktop web app that requires Google Chrome, read receipts and more.

Sadly, the app still lacks a Share sheet extension on iOS 8.

As of January 6, 2015, the service passed 700 million active users.

WhatsApp 2.11.15 changelog:

  • Added support for Dynamic Type (variable font sizes) throughout the app.
  • Quick camera button in chats let’s you quickly choose a recent camera roll photo.

The iPhone-only app requires iOS 4.3 or later.

    • InfinitePlusOne

are there any apps that has quick reply? not like Twitter, which has just retweet and favourite. I mean any apps with iMessage style typing in notification bar and replying ?

      • Fede777

Not possible for 3rd party apps.

      • Jeiivy

not that i know off, only on jailbreak.

  • Noohar

I still cannot understand why is WhatsApp so useless that they do not have the iOS 8 Share Extension functionality yet.I mean even in the 9Gag iOS App there is an option to “Send to WhatsApp” so why cant one share/send your images in the Photos App straight into WhatsApp?!

Can anyone confirm if 2.11.15 fixes the bug of incorrect display of cell data used within the App (known issue in 2.11.14, i.e. messages sent, media bytes sent, bytes recvd. Total Data used) ?
Any bugs discovered in latest version ?

I know whatsapp doesn’t support iPod or iPad which is strange for me.
But is whatspad helps the latest 2.11.15 work on iPad? Because I’ve installed it lately and it keeps saying device not supported 🙁
Probably have to install earlier version though

WhatsApp lacks its integration in Photos app and possibility to send pictures from camera roll – share extension.
It also lacks quick reply option and Touch ID integration for private messages
iOS 8 was released 8 months ago and introduced those great possibilities and WhatsApp is stuck like that it is written for iOS 7.
Viber is way better, plus it has audio calls and desktop application.

How to get calling butten in whatsapp

  • Medina_C138 email

Except that is happening beyond only iphones. Perhaps you have gotten the memo about Verizon and AT&T’s new contract ideas months before? It’s just this. 24-month and you will get a brand new one annually or 30-month where you can update the telephone at the 24th month (but need to show in your old phone) or spend through the whole 30 weeks and own the telephone
