TaiG 1.2

As expected, TaiG has been updated to support the iOS 8.1.2 firmware. A few prominent developers sent tweets out earlier today stating as much, but now we have the proof in the form of an official release. You can find the updated TaiG jailbreak tool on our downloads page.

If you’ve been waiting until the all clear before updating to iOS 8.1.2, it is now safe to do so. We’ll be back with a full iOS 8.1.2 jailbreak tutorial soon. In the meantime, remember that you can download TaiG 1.2 from our downloads page.

iOS 8 jailbreak tutorials:

Will you be updating to iOS 8.1.2, or will you be staying at your current firmware?

  • RafaelMelo

I am planning to update, but the BIG question is:
Are my precious tweaks going to work on 8.1.2?

    • port87

      yep.

      • hazydayz

I updated to 8.1.2 as soon as it came about hardly ANY tweaks worked it was that bad I restored my iPad to Apple settings, il jailbreak again when more is available

  • Tim

To all the people who cried “whyyyyy waste jailbreak on 8.1.1 when 8.1.2 is coming out soon whyyyyyy!!!!!!” well here is your answer.

    • Chris

      They were complaining about 8.2

      • Bugs Bunnay

        i’m complaining about 8.3 >.<

      • Tim

Taig already said they can jailbreak 8.2 beta, that’s a good sign

      • Chris

Claiming something is different from seeing it

      • Nima Kian

thinking positive is always different from being a real sore pessimist.

      • Chris

Assuming I thought negative by posting that doesn’t make a pessimist, simply put, without 8.2 on the public radar we have yet to see it work. A lot can change between now and it’s release date.

      • Fanboy 

Go away Chris, lol. They’re going to jailbreak 8.2, its inevitable. Every single iOS release has been jailbreakable.

      • Platy

Agree but can’t really do much else at this point. Dont really want to give Apple any clues.

  • Mike M. Powell

Damn time to re download all my tweaks again lol seems springtomize will b pending another update once more to fix the status bar/dock issue D:

    • Eyal Rotem

When you say status bar issue, is that where it’s not hiding things correctly?
Because I tought I’m the only one screwed

      • Mike M. Powell

        yup!

  • Zzyzxd

Is there any reason to upgrade from 8.1.1 if I don’t have purchased ringtone? I’m tired of jailbreaking all my devices and redo all the setups and installing tweaks for the third time in two months……

    • James G

Stick on 8.1 or 8.1.1 if you’re already jailbroken and on it. No real reason to upgrade until 8.2 is jailbroken. These fixes in 8.1.1 and 8.1.2 only benefit a small group of users.

If you have an iPad 2 or iPhone 4s, then maybe worth the effort for 8.1.1 from 8.1. Otherwise, I recommend sticking with what you’ve got.

      • justme

yep! iOS8.1.2 on iPad 2 works very well!
multitask gestures running very smooth like iOS6
slide four fingers to left/right and see by yourself 😉

      • Helen Helene

I updated ipad 2 to 8.1.1; working good so staying on 8.1.1 (unless there is a fix to my WIFI problem!!)

  • Rodney Coleman

Smh… Jailbreaks are like ugh…. Not even cool no more. It’s like rooting androids. Everyone can do it..

    • Ali

Jailbreak is not a Luxury, and is more than just a “cool” factor. It should be available to the masses.

    • justme

correction every chinese dev can do it without drama jeje

    • Gregg

Well, it’s only not cool, if you think it’s not. For me it’s a matter of making my already awesome device even more awesome and useful.

    • NP92

Then you do it? And do it cool.

  • justme

This chinese devs never sleep (I know obvious they have different time zone) but.. just WOW!

    congrats!

  • AnoNymouz

Still on 8.1. Can we get a reassurance which tweaks if not all 8.1 tweaks work with 8.1.2?

    • Chris

All the same tweaks should still work, 8.1.2 didn’t change anything critical.

    • Andrew

Anything working with 8.1.1 should work on 8.1.2, but some stuff (though barely anything major) doesn’t work quite yet, as 8.1.1 broke a few tweaks that worked on 8.1.

  • Chris Gilmore

So what can I use so I don’t have to reinstall my tweaks? I’ve never looked in to back up things before.

  • Jon20

I updated to 8.1.1 on my 6+ with TaiG and I noticed that I lost the rotation capability on my home screen and the split screen for messages, settings and mail. Has this happened to anyone else. Please help!!

  • h4nd0fg0d

Just wondering if 8.1.2 battery life is better than 8.1.1, as my battery life took a major hit going from 8.1 to 8.1.1 on iP6.

  • Mark

I have updated and jailbroke to 8.1.2. No issues. Do I still need to install the taig cydia update? The one through apk.cydia,com. The update says 8.0-8.1 so I’m not sure if I need this or not? Does the 8.1.2 jailbreak include this already? Any thoughts?

    • Kholy

I cant find taig 1.2 there is only 1.1 please any help?

      • Mark

from idownloadblog’s download section on their webpage.

    • dave

I installed it (the update in Cydia) for TaiG 8.0-8.1.X untether and rebooted just fine. I’m still however getting prompted to update it and if/when I try now it keeps saying file size mismatch so I dunno what’s fubar’d now (if anything). Seems their repo (taig) it getting hammered anyhow so maybe that’s why too.

      • Mark

Thanks for your update. I guess I will just hold off. Maybe Idownloadblog can talk about this. We can’t be the only ones wondering. Take care. Maybe taig bundled the update in 1.2. Maybe that’s why the mismatch error because the file is already there?.?.?

      • dave

I’m sure its because 1.2 includes it, but for some reason Cydia (or TaiG’s repo) thinks that it’s still needed. I believe 1.1 (windows executable) included the fixes that the 1.1 “update” in Cydia did/does, so still not sure why Cydia thinks it needs this update since it’s 1.1, and we’re now using 1.2.

      • Houri Safwat

im getting that same size missmatch error .. im on 8.1.1 taig jb , and now my cydia keeps telling me to update taig untethered pkg .. then gives me the error after downloading it .. so u guys r not alone 😀

  • Initiation

    Release a mac version already

  • Keith S.

I’m jailbroken on 8.1.0 and thinking about upgrading to 8.1.2, except that the need to re-jailbreak has me a bit concerned. Is there a quick, safe, and iOS8.1-compatible way to restore all my Cydia apps in one fell swoop? I find that manually re-entering all the repos and downloading the apps a handful at a time is the most tedious (and sometimes nail-biting) part of the jailbreak.

  • ShawnTXDFW

JB is done and all tweaks seem to be working. Well, except Muisc Box. Keeps crashing. Anyone else having this issue? Tried to find a repo for it but I only came across 2 with version 2.2.3 seeming to be the latest.

  • DJ_Jackel

Jailbreaking 8.1.2 is all well and good, but when are we gonna get the unlock tools to go along with it?

  • Joe camburn

      • Eric Pedro

I deleted springtimize3 and HUD2. I read more online and a lot of people have the same problem. Delete those and everything works fine now.
