ipad 5 shell comparison

Apple’s next-generation full-sized iPad is expected to sport a redesigned casing, similar to that of the iPad mini. It’s said to be lighter and thinner than the iPad 4, with an overall smaller footprint.

And a new video surfaced this weekend that gives us a good idea of just how much the two tablets will differ in size, by comparing the measurements of an alleged iPad 5 shell with its predecessor…

The video comes from Chinese parts supplier sw-box.com (via MacRumors):

The narrative for the fifth gen iPad has been set for several months now. We first started seeing purported shell leaks back in January, and not much has changed since then through dozens of reports.

In addition to the iPad mini-like redesign, the tablet is expected to feature a variation of Apple’s 64-bit A7 processor, 2GB of RAM, and three color options including silver, gold, and the new space gray.

Last week, alleged photos of a gold iPad mini with Touch ID Home button surfaced.

The rumour mill is so accurate these days that it hardly leaves any element of surprise for us on the day Apple launches its products! lol

  • Linton Findlay

if the ipad mini 2 has retina, touch id and the a7, i think il buy one

    • m33tpal

Plus, Apple might add the iPhone 5c like casing for the iPad mini 2

Plastic iPad?? No. Not happening. The mini is already the cheap version of the iPad, why would they make it plastic?

      • m33tpal

probably to make it more cheaper, and still earn huge profits! but i do agree with u on this plastic thing not happening at all…

      • Al

We would have seen a leak already if it was going to have a plastic back casing..

      • m33tpal

true! but u can nvr be too sure abt anything 😉

    • Jonathan

      Ditto.

  • chumawumba

    I miss surprises.

    • Al

Me too… But it’s nearly impossible this day and age.

The surprises will come in how they will price the iPads..

  • Al

From the unboxtherapy leak of the iPad 5 shell and to this one… The iPad looks larger for some reason. I wonder which one is actual legit.

I’ve been thinking how Apple will price all these upcoming iPads.. And even if they add TouchID will they do a price increase.. With how they managed to add a polycarbonate (plastic) back to the iPhone 5 and market it as brand new, I’m sure they have something up there sleeve for the upcoming iPads…

    A7X or A7?

    • JayDee917

Probably the A7, as it could handle the iPad’s resolution as it is.

Not everyone will be rational about this comment, but here goes.

The 5 should have the dual LED flash and the iPhone 5s camera. If it is the premium tablet on the market, it shouldn’t be gimped compared to the iPhone. I don’t care if you think it’s dumb, but around the house I use the camera a lot and am pissed that I should pay the higher prices of a premium iPad and not get the specs of the subsidized iPhone.

    There, I said it.

    • Donglemecurious

And while we are talking fantasies, I also want to be between those two pair of little asian hands while they say “iPad4, iPad5” over and over.

The line for repercussive comments forms below this post:

The new design is goregeous and I really like that the edges are rounder now. When you hold the iPad in portrait mode for a while, its corners can hurt your palms after a while.
