Not too long ago we posted an article and video about iStartupSound, a jailbreak tweak that allowed you to add custom boot up sounds to your iPhone upon restart or respring.

Now, the jailbreak community has taken the next obvious step by allowing full startup movies to accompany your restarts and resprings.

Logically, the tweak is called iStartupMovie, and it works somewhat similar to its audio only predecessor. Check after the break for an in-depth video walkthrough of iStartupMovie in action…

Once you install iStartupMovie, a new app will be present on your Home screen. With this app, you’re able to enable or disable the movies that it finds in the required iStartupMovie directory.

After the movie is enabled, a simple respiring will showcase your video of choice. There’s even a couple of sample movies thrown in for those of you who want to test it out immediately.

The only downside I see with this tweak is that it adds more time to your respiring or reboot time. If the additional wait time isn’t a big deal for you, you’ll no doubt love iStartupMovie. For me though, the additional boot up time was a deal breaker.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.

    • Without Many tweeks installed my reboot time takes anywhere from 5-10 minuites abd when i resprin it gets stuck and takes about half an hour. I bet that if i get this, it would be WAY worse (itouch 4g)

You clearly have something wrong with your iPod then cos I have a 4th gen and it resprings in seconds and reboots in less than a minute and that’s with loads of tweaks on it.

Yet again nice video jeff…and can we get that iDB start up ?

Waste of space. It shouldn’t even be called “startup” since it doesn’t actually work as a startup movie!

This tweak is bad!!! At least for my iphone 3G on 4.2.1, it made my iphone not be able to charge! Good thing I removed it before it died. So if you have one, STAY AWAY from this tweak! And just disabling the tweak is not enough.

  • This a nice tweak that everyone has the right to install or not… there’s no hard in trying. If you don’t like it, remove it.
