First look at upcoming Minecraft: Story Mode

A brand new international reveal trailer posted during the July 4 weekend offers a tantalizing glimpse into Minecraft: Story Mode, an upcoming narrative-driven adventure game created by Minecraft developer Mojang in collaboration with Telltale Games, the makers of the Game of Thrones cinematic video game series.

Following its announcement back in December 2014, the official teaser trailer for Story Mode has now premiered at the Minecon show in London. The video depicts a game set in the world of Minecraft with its own original story that will be driven by player decision. The game will consist of five episodes, with the inaugural episode set for release in 2015.

Minecraft – Pocket Edition to gain skins, fishing, new jockeys and more

Great news Minecraft fans, Mojang announced today that it's bringing "loads of new features" to Minecraft - Pocket Edition in the near future. The team says it will be submitting the update for iOS, Android and Windows Phone this week.

Perhaps one of the most notable new features in the update is Skins. Players will soon have the ability to customize the way their characters look in Minecraft PE by either uploading a Skin, creating a Skin, or purchasing a new Skin bundle.

Telltale Games, the makers of cinematic games liek The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead series, and Mojang, a Microsoft owned game developer studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, are teaming up on a brand new, narrative-driven game set in the Minecraft universe.

Minecraft: Story Mode, premiering in 2015 on consoles, computers and mobile devices, has an original story and, like all Telltale games, will be driven by the choices you make.

Microsoft buying Minecraft maker Mojang for $2.5 billion, commits to keeping iOS game alive

Following weeks of speculation, software giant Microsoft on Monday officially confirmed it's spending a cool $2.5 billion to buy Mojang, a company behind the highly successful Minecraft video game which tasks players with building constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world.

The Stockholm-based firm is to become part of Microsoft Studios, the Windows maker has confirmed.

The deal, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory review, will enable “richer and faster worlds, more powerful development tools and more opportunities to connect” across the Minecraft community as the game is set to take advantage of Microsoft’s cloud and mobile technologies.
