This App Adds Weather Conditions to Your Lock Screen Without Jailbreaking

If you're the kind of person that likes to keep an eye on the weather forecast without having to load the Weather app or look out of a window, then you are going to love this!

Unfortunately, Apple does not allow the Notification Center weather widget to show up in the iOS lock screen, but there are plenty of jailbreak tweaks and apps that will do just that. What if you don't want to jailbreak, though? Now there is a solution, and it's made its way through Apple's App Store, too.

Unimaginatively named "Lock Screen Weather App," this app will do just what many have been crying out for – display weather information on an iPhone's lock screen without the need to jailbreak anything...

MobileSubstrate Updated to Fix Cydia Tweak Crashes on iOS 5.0.1 Untether

Jay Freeman (known as saurik) has pushed an update for MobileSubstrate that addresses the crashing of jailbreak tweaks from Cydia on the iOS 5.0.1 untether. Coincidentally, RedSn0w was updated this morning with a fix for MobileSubstrate crash errors as well.

Users that are jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1 can install version 0.9.3955 of MobileSubstrate now in Cydia to fix tweak crashes. Another huge perk is that MobileSubstrate no longer requires that you reboot iOS every time you install or upgrade the package.

RedSn0w iOS 5.0.1 Untether Updated With Fix For MobileSubstrate Error

The Dev Team has released beta 3 of RedSn0w for the Mac and PC to fix an error that caused MobileSubstrate to sometimes crash on jailbroken iOS devices. This specific error only seemed to crash MobileSubstrate when the latest iOS 5.0.1 untether in RedSn0w was run over an existing jailbreak.

Apple and Jailbreaking Make it Onto EFF’s Christmas Wish List

Every year the Electronic Frontier Foundation releases its "wish list," a list that points out the flaws the EFF sees in tech companies and their openness. This year has seen Apple only appear in that list once, and in a particularly predictable manner.

The EFF, according to its list, would like Apple to allow users to easily gain root access to their devices, giving them complete control over how they work as well as offering a way to install apps without going through Apple's App Store.

Chpwn Unveils Zephyr, an Awesome Multitasking Tweak for the iPhone

Hot on the heels of the release of his popular Siri port, Spire, the infamous iOS hacker known as chpwn has released another jailbreak tweak. The utility, known as Zephyr, will change the way you switch between active apps.

Just like Corona yesterday, RedSn0w just got an update to fix the "launchctl" error that we previously reported on. By releasing RedSn0w 0.9.10b2, the Dev Team now takes care of this problem that plagued a few users on the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak.

If you were one of those users affected by the issue, you can simply run RedSn0w 0.9.10b2 on top of your current jailbreak...
