IntelliScreenX: The Way Notification Center Should Be

Today we finally got to go hands-on with a near final beta version of IntelliScreenX — the highly anticipated jailbreak app for iOS 5's Notification Center — and let's just cut to the chase, it lives up to the hype, and then some.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is how Notification Center is done. IntelliScreenX makes iOS 5's new pull down menu, a literal center of notifications.

There's Twitter, Facebook, RSS, and email, and it's done in such a way that you can communicate without ever leaving Notification Center; you can even do so from the Lock screen.

Check inside for a full video preview of IntelliScreenX, and you'll see why this upcoming app is reason enough alone to jailbreak your iPhone...

LockMessages Adds a Level of Privacy to Notification Center Messages

We've all had those situations when we've received a text message that we don't necessarily want anyone else to see. The problem is that such a message always seems to come through when your iPhone on a desk, or on a table in plain sight.

So there you are, your message pops up along with the sender's name and, if you have default settings turned on, a preview of the message's contents.

A new jailbreak tweak allows you to minimize such embarrassing situations by giving you control over what iOS shows when you receive a new text or iMessage, and it's called LockMessages...

How to Add Up to 11 Lines of Text to Notification Center

Notification Center is far and away one of the top features of the new iOS 5, but it's not without its opportunities for improvement.

Case in point, you can only see four lines of text maximum on any of the messages that are queued up in Notification Center. There's no way to customize the length of the messages that are displayed.

There's also the annoying matter of having to tap twice to clear out any messages. NotificationCenter Enhancer seeks to address these issues...

How to Add Nyan Cat to Your Notification Center

Nyan Cat fans rejoice. Now, not only can you get Nyan Cat sliders to replace your stock iOS sliders, you can now place a Nyan Cat directly in Notification Center.

Some will undoubtedly hate this, while others will be mightily amused. Which camp do you belong to?

Either way, you owe it to yourself to check out NCNyanCat, at least once...

WeeSpaces: Multitask Directly From Notification Center

Quickly switching between pages and apps via Notification Center is now possible, and WeeSpaces is the jailbreak widget that makes it so.

WeeSpaces is a widget that places links to all of your running apps and SpringBoard pages directly in Notification Center.

WeeSearch: Search Google, YouTube, And Wikipedia From Notification Center

WeeSearch is a recently released Notification Center jailbreak widget for iOS 5, which allows for YouTube, Google, and Wikipedia searches right from the convenience of Notification Center.

It's free, and it works to a certain extent, but it's obvious that the widget was rushed in its development. It's missing a few fundamental features, and not everything works as expected.

Check inside for a full rundown on what's good and bad about WeeSearch...

‘AppLocker’ Password Protects Your Individual iOS Apps

Here's a pretty useful little iOS tweak, especially if you've got kids who like to go tapping icons on your iPhone, with little regard for your saved game progress or super-important work document you've been editing.

Just as AppLocker's name might suggest, this $0.99 tweak adds a new pane to Settings.app, in which a password lock can be added to all your iOS applications, meaning they won't launch unless you know the special word.

That's all fine and dandy, but AppLocker goes one step further than that...

‘RSSWidget’ Brings Your Favorite RSS Feed to Notification Center

Notice I said favorite RSS feed, and not feeds. Yes, RSSWidget works great, but it's ridiculously restrictive when it comes to the number of feeds you can have.

In fact, you can only have one feed. Besides that obvious limitation, RSSWidget is a decent little Notification Center jailbreak widget. Check inside as we take it for a spin on video...

How Jailbreakers Helped Create the App Store

The Associated Press seems to have gotten its hands on the Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson. The highly anticipated book is due out later this month, but excerpts have been surfacing on the web over the last 48 hours.

One of the more interesting tidbits that has come to light is a passage regarding Jobs' thoughts and comments on third-party applications. Apparently at one point, Jobs thought that web apps were the wave of the future...

How to Take Notes Via Notification Center Using ‘QuickMemo’

Need to jot down a quick phone number, recipe, directions, or an address? If you have an iPhone 4S, you could always rely on Siri, but what if you don't?

A simple solution would be QuickMemo — a Notification Center widget for jailbroken iOS 5 devices, which allows you to jot down notes with a simple swipe of the status bar.

It's not perfect, but QuickMemo is more than adequate to function as a scratch pad. Take a look inside for a video walkthrough that shows the widget in action...

20 Awesome iOS 5-Compatible Jailbreak Tweaks

When Apple unveiled iOS 5 last Summer, it mentioned that the update included over 200 new features. Among the additions were several features that closely mirrored tweaks and utilities from within the jailbreak community.

In fact, there were a lot of folks that thought that iOS 5 would be the beginning of the end for jailbreakers, but we aren't too worried. Not only have we had an iOS 5 jailbreak for months, we also have tons of compatible tweaks and utilities...
