Apple Introduces iTunes in the Cloud

Here is the feature a lot of you were waiting for: iTunes in the cloud. This new feature will allow you to sync your songs purchased in iTunes across all your devices. Let's say for example you download a song on your iPhone, you can then grab your iPad, see your purchased history, and decide to download all or individual songs to your iPad, at no additional cost.

Even better, you can turn a setting on so the song you purchased are automatically downloaded to your other devices. This is just a killer feature...

OTA Updates and Backups in iOS 5, No PC Required

Apple just dropped a bombshell. As the rumors correctly predicted, Apple will be bringing over-the-air iOS updates. And instead of having to plug your device into iTunes on a PC to initially register, you will be able to active an iDevice from the device itself- out of box.

OTA firmware updates and backups will be introduced in iOS 5, and you can now say that you've officially "cut the cord."

iCloud More iTunes Than MobileMe?

We're less than 24 hours away from the big opening to WWDC 2011 now, and the rumors are still flying as to what we will and won't see when Steve Jobs puts sneaker to stage at the Moscone Center. The latest buzz comes courtesy of Apple fanboy and tech pundit John Gruber, with the Daring Fireball himself sharing his thoughts on tomorrow's announcements.

The full post goes on for a good few hundred words and re-hashes much of what the community has already speculated over the last week or so, but with one considerable exception. According to Gruber's fourth-hand information, we shouldn't be thinking of Apple's iCloud as the new MobileMe, but rather the new iTunes. Intrigued? So were we...

Automatic Over-the-Air App Updates Coming in iOS 5

An upcoming iOS 5 feature has been leaked in iTunes. Following the rumor that iOS 5 would offer over-the-air downloads for iOS updates, MacRumors has uncovered a new Apple feature called "Automatic Download."

Currently, users have to manually update App Store apps. You can update one app at a time, or update all apps at once in the App Store app. Automatic Download would allow for OTA downloading and syncing of app updates in iOS...

Apple Cloud Licensing Deals Almost Done

Several online news outlets have been reporting in the last 12 hours that Apple has signed a deal with EMI Music, the fourth largest music group in the world. Apple definitely seems to be putting the final pieces in place for its cloud-based music service.

Apple released iOS 4.3.3 (4.2.8 for Verizon iPhones) last Wednesday, less than three weeks after the previous software update. The new firmware included a fix for the location tracking file that Apple has gotten into so much water over (is that considered Cider?).

Chances are, most of you didn't consider 4.3.3 big enough to update from 4.3.2. But with the Verizon iPad 2 problem fixed and the infamous tracking bug patched, we may not see another update until iOS 5 is released.
