Flipboard is now available in a web browser

Flipboard, a social-network aggregation news app delivered in a magazine-like format, today launched a web app that runs in any standards-compliant desktop web browser like Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome.

Available at flipboard.com, it lets you sign in with your Flipboard account and browse your Cover Stories, catch up on anything you're interested in and collect and share articles with friends, all inside your favorite desktop browser and without installing anything.

Kuo: iPhone 6s to sport much-improved Touch ID for safer Apple Pay experience

In a note to clients obtained Monday by AppleInsider, revered analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is predicting that the next iPhone will have a much improved and more reliable Touch ID fingerprint sensor that will “offer a better and safer Apple Pay user experience by reducing reading errors."

An analyst with KGI Securities, Kuo is plugged deeply into Apple's supply chain and has proven reliable.

Anki Overdrive announced with modular track pieces, new cars and more

Following the success of Anki Drive, a slot car racing game which made its debut on stage at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in the summer of 2013, Tuesday the company announced  the Anki Overdrive ahead of the next week's New York Toy Fair show. Anki Overdrive is an improved version of Drive with brand new cars, customizable tracks and more.

Infuse 3.2 rolls out with Google Cast support, direct web streaming and more

Infuse, a versatile media player for the iPhone and iPad by jailbreak developer FireCore (the brains behind the aTV Flash Black software), has been infused this morning with more than a dozen new features, improvements and enhancements.

Among other items, Infuse 3.2 can stream/download video from direct web URLs and has beta support for Google Cast, the search giant's version of AirPlay.

The freemium app is available at no cost in the App Store, with advanced features locked behind a Pro upgrade via the In-App Purchase mechanism.

Dish’s Sling TV launches live, adds AMC network

Following a limited invite-only launch last month, Dish's Sling TV service is now available to everyone in the United States, the company announced Monday.

In addition, the service has added AMC to the basic channel lineup so you'll be able to watch Better Call Saul, Mad Men and Walking Dead, for example.

Skype for iPhone introduces new chat picker, brings back URI support and more

Microsoft today released an update to Skype for iPhone in the App Store. In addition to general improvements, Skype 5.10 for iPhone lets you quickly call people and groups straight from a new chat picker: just tap on a new chat icon and choose who to talk to.

The update enhances Skype's dialer with a useful auto-complete feature that searches for Skype contacts as you’re entering a phone number.

Most importantly, the new version brings Skype URI support back to iPhones so third-party developers can again write apps that integrate with Skype.

iPhone 6s rumored to keep same 8MP rear-camera sensor as previous generations

The component industry is expecting the rear-camera for the iPhone 6s to retain the same 8-megapixel sensor Apple has been using in previous generations of the iPhone. As such, it appears Apple won't be jumping on the 16-megapixel bandwagon of insanely increasing megapixel count for marketing purposes.

The rumor on Monday is centered around a report from Taipei-based analyst Jeff Pu who claims the iPhone 6s will have the same camera hardware specifications as previous models, according to Taipei Times. Pu is formulating his predictions around one supplier.

Sapphire-like Corning glass could come to next iPhone

Kentucky-based Corning has announced that Sapphire-like glass called "Project Phire" will be shipping on smartphones later this year. While not direct confirmation, this could be the glass found on the next iPhone, as Corning has been the glass Apple has chosen in previous generations.

The new glass was announced at an event in New York City, reports CNET, and the company claims it offers the scratch resistance of sapphire but does better when dropped. 

Telltale releases Game of Thrones Episode 2: The Lost Lords

Following the inaugural release of the Game of Thrones adventure game series for the iPhone, iPad and Mac back in December, Telltale Games has now released the second installment of the six-episode game.

Titled The Lost Lords, Episode 2 finds House Forrester in disarray, their liege lord and his heir dead and Ironrath occupied by Whitehill soldiers.

Needless to say, the survival of the family depends upon those who are left. Game of Thrones Episode 2: The Lost Lords is available in the App Store, Telltale Store and through Steam.

SwiftKey gains iPad gesture typing, 800+ predictive emojis, key click sounds and more

SwiftKey, the popular third-party keyboard for the iPhone and iPad, has received a nice refresh today. The new version brings out support for eleven more languages, enables gesture typing on iPads, implements a new picker which provides access to more than 800 emoticons along with emoji predictions, adds the option to accompany each tap of a key with a click sound and other goodies.
