Beamdog announces Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition coming to mobile and desktop soon

Developer and publisher Beamdog is soon going to unleash an enhanced edition of its classic role-playing game (RPG), Icewind Dale, on mobile and desktop.

Originally developed for Windows by Black Isle Studios and published by Interplay Entertainment in the summer of 2000, Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will be hitting the iPhone and iPad soon, Canada-based Beamdog confirmed on its website Tuesday.

Set in Wizards of the Coast’s Forgotten Realms campaign in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, the game includes almost 40 new kits and classes and features cross-platform multiplayer games, an overhauled interface, remastered quests from the original game and more.

Netflix Recommend with Facebook-enabled private video sharing now available

Netflix for the iPhone and iPad now allows you to privately recommend movies and television shows to a cherry-picked selection of Facebook friends who have connected their Facebook account with Netflix, but fortunately without spamming their News Feed, wrote the firm Tuesday in a post over at the official blog.

The social recommendation feature is available to Netflix users in the United States and Canada starting today.

Dubbed Netflix Recommend, it's “another great way to discover your next favorite show,” as the popular on-demand streaming service put it.

The SmartStyle case gives a notebook feel to your iPad Air

X-Doria is a relatively new comer to the Apple accessory arena. While they have been around for a couple years, they are still making a name for themselves. One of their key product features is a puffing ink that raises as it is heated in the production process. Almost any design you see in their product lineup, utilizes the 3D puffing ink, making it standout among other simply screen-printed competitors. The ink provides tactile feedback, offering an easier to handle case and a good looking stark color pattern.

The SmartStyle Patterns for iPad Air gets its name from the stylized printed patter and the Smart Cover technology. Using exactly placed magnets, SmartStyle behaves similarly to an Apple Smart Cover, waking or sleeping iPad as the cover is either opened or closed.

The Tylt Ruggd case is built for style and damage protection

If you are prone to dropping, abusing, and misusing your iPad Air, hopefully you are shopping around for a solid case. You are going to need something with a shockproof design, corner protection, rubberized absorbing base layer, and a little bit of flexibility. All of those features are built neatly into the TYLT RUGGD iPad Air case.

Making no bones about design, the RUGGD forgoes any eye candy design and goes straight for protection. With bulky corner cushioning and what appear to be four leg-like bumpers on the back, RUGGD should have you safe and sound, unless you drop it face down.

Facebook testing Graph Search on mobile with ability to resurface old content by keyword

The social networking behemoth, Facebook, in a bid to help folks resurface content that may otherwise be buried is reportedly testing a new feature that would let people using its mobile apps search through old posts from friends by keyword, Bloomberg reported Friday.

There's no word on when Facebook's 1+ billion users who predominantly access the service on smartphones and tablets can expect to use Graph Search on mobile, though the report makes it clear the feature's been in closed testing for quite some time now.

Poll: would you consider a larger iPad?

Tuesday, unnamed sources told Bloomberg that Apple has been gearing up to introduce a larger 12.9-inch iPad early next year.

For what it's worth, the story contradicts a March report by the mostly unreliable DigiTimes which claimed the project had been put on hold over various developmental issues.

Compared to the 9.7-inch iPad Air, the rumored device — dubbed by the press the 'iPad Pro' — would offer a significantly bigger canvas for your apps, media and content. At the same time, a 12.9-inch iPad would be just a hair smaller than the 13.3-inch MacBook Air and significantly bigger — 3 inches bigger to be exact — than the iPad Air.

So, who wants a giant iPad?

IMDb pulls ‘On DVD/Blu-ray’ pages and external links, adds showtimes refinements

IMDb, an Amazon-owned online database of information related to films, television programs and video games, has a nice iPhone and iPad app. As of today, it's become a tad more useful while also retiring a pair of handy features.

Now bumped to version 4.4, the refreshed software makes a few unexpected changes to the experience. First up, the 'On DVD/Blu-ray' pages have been removed completely because the data source the app was using "wasn’t up to snuff".

Moreover, outgoing IMDb.com links from the app's title and name pages have fallen victim of Apple's app submission guidelines and will be no longer available within the app going forward.

Other changes in this version are outlined after the break.

Quora, for those unfamiliar with it, is a popular question-and-answer website where folks submit questions on a wide range of topics and get answers from like-minded users.
