Siri continues to receive criticism over at times unreliable performance although Apple's been advancing its personal digital assistant by leaps and bounds since its debut in October 2011.

Google, on the other hand, is regularly praised for its powerful knowledge graph and accuracy.

You probably know that the search company's exciting new feature, Assistant, recently made its debut on the new Pixel smartphones.

With that in mind, YouTuber Marques Brownlee took it upon himself to pit the Pixel's Assistant against the iPhone's Siri in a cool side-by-side video comparison.

Leaked photos and commercial show off Google’s Pixel smartphones ahead of today’s unveiling

As we told you, Google will be unveiling a pair of “Made by Google” smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, at a media event later today. Yesterday, British mobile retailer Carphone Warehouse posted a series of slides for the upcoming devices.

These images give us a solid advance look at some of the features of the upcoming smartphones. In addition, Rabid Rotty just captured on video a Pixel commercial that aired in Canada ahead of the unveiling.

Introducing Assistant, Google’s conversational AI helper

In addition to announcing a pair of new iPhone apps for messaging and video calling and a preview of its Amazon Echo-killer, the Google I/O 2016 keynote saw some pretty exciting news regarding the search giant's all-new two-way conversational assistant, coming soon to all your devices.

Named Assistant, it's a big upgrade to Google Now that builds “on all our years of investment in deeply understanding users' questions”.

Two months later, Apple still hasn’t approved Google Search update

Back in August, Google showed off an update for its iOS Search app that included its new Google Now digital assistant technology. It's the same tech it uses in Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

During the showing, the company said that it had submitted the update to Apple and was awaiting approval. But more than two months have passed now, and we haven't heard a peep...

Google accelerating plans to launch Siri competitor code-named Majel

We've known for awhile that Google's been working on improving Voice Actions in Android. Needless to say, last October's release of the iPhone 4S and its headline voice assistant feature dubbed Siri sent Google's engineers back to the drawing board in an attempt to re-envision what conversing with an Android device should be like. According to the well-informed Wall Street Journal, the search giant has now "accelerated" plans to bring Siri competitor to the market.
