AT&T now offers travelers 1GB of free data across UK’s 16,000 Wi-Fi spots

U.S. carrier AT&T today expanded its 4G LTE coverage in several markets and now word has reaches us that the company has signed an interesting roaming deal with The Cloud to offer travelers free access to 16,000 Wi-Fi spots in the United Kingdom. The Cloud is a BSkyB-owned Wi-Fi hotspot provider and the agreement entails up to one gigabyte of free roaming data.

RIM has always bested the iPhone and other handset vendors with reasonable service terms that typically include free or inexpensive messaging and data for BlackBerry users traveling abroad. While Apple's dealings with the world's carriers don't included these benefits, it's nice that one of the most important carriers globally is now appeasing to its customers with a fair roaming deal...

Infinity Blade goes free for a limited time

Infinity Blade is arguably one of the most popular gaming franchises on iOS (aside from Angry Birds and maybe Real Racing). First released in 2010 by Chair Entertainment and Epic Games, the action role player pulled in some $1.6 million in its first four days.

The game was popular enough to spawn at least one sequel, Infinity Blade 2, and possibly a third. Still don't get what all of the hype is about? Well now's your chance to investigate, because the title that started it all was just discounted to $0 for a limited time...

You don’t wanna miss this: National Geographic World Atlas goes free

National Geographic Society produces some of the most compelling, fact-checked content money can buy and their World Atlas iPad app has long been my go-to reference source, not just for checking out interesting facts and trivia but for doing serious research related to the world's countries, their economies, demographics and so forth.

They updated the app on January 11 with high-resolution Retina graphics, revamped UI and added a new feature which lets you explore a full 3D view of the globe.

Today, they're making the app free for a limited time and you're advised to download it now before the price goes up. Note that this is the first time ever the app has become available as a free download since its 2010 App Store debut...

Orchestra now offering reservations for upcoming Mailbox email client

Last month, we told you about an exciting new iPhone email client called Mailbox. The app, which has been described as a cross between Clear and Sparrow thanks to its simple, swipe-based UI, is slated to hit the App Store in the next few weeks.

And in anticipation of high demand for the free email client, Mailbox-creator Orchestra opened up a reservation system this morning. It operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and will help the team manage server traffic when the app lands...

Another freebie: Rovio’s Amazing Alex is now available for $0 with some ads

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk7vezL36IU

Finnish developer Rovio made headlines earlier today announcing that the popular Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Rio HD have been made Apple's Free App of the Week, meaning both titles are now free downloads for a limited time. As the iPhone version normally costs 99 cents and the high-definition iPad version is an additional $3, that's a $4 saving for you right off the bat. But if you've grown tired of Angry Birds and think the series has long run its course, Rovio has another deal for you.

Today, the company released a free, ad-supported version of Amazing Alex for the iPhone and iPod touch and Amazing Alex HD for iPads. The game, one of the finest physics-based puzzlers available for iOS devices, is based on Casey’s Contraptions which Rovio licensed and challenges you with building contraptions by combining various objects to solve a bunch of levels...

Angry Birds Rio and Rio HD free for a limited time

Good news! For the few dozen of you who haven't, for one reason or another, played one of Rovio's massively popular Angry Birds titles, it's just been announced that the Angry Birds Rio game has gone free for a limited time. Both iPhone and iPad versions have been discounted to $0. More details and download links after the break...

‘TorchNC’ and ‘InstaSnap’ spice up Notification Center on jailbroken iPhones

Two new jailbreak tweaks have recently appeared in Cydia by the same developer, and they both happen to focus on Notification Center. Specifically, these tweaks aim to add handy shortcuts to the Notification Center pull-down pane.

The first tweak on the docket, TorchNC, adds a shortcut to activate the iPhone's LED flash. There are other tweaks and apps that perform flashlight functions, but I always find it useful to have it within Notification Center, or directly on the Lock screen.

The second tweak, like the first, is a shortcut for Notification Center. Instead of interacting with the iPhone's LED flash, InstaSnap is a tweak that allows you to quickly access the camera from within Instagram. Seeing as though this tweak doesn't require the iPhone only LED flash, it works with both the iPhone and iPod touch perfectly fine.

Take a look as we profile both InstaSnap and TorchNC in our walkthrough videos inside...

Google Music rolls out iTunes Match-like scan and match feature to US

Google rolled out a new scan-and-match feature for Google Music, the search giant's cloud-based music store and storage service, to the US today. The feature, which was been available in Europe for a while now, will scan a user's music collection on their computer, and quickly rebuild it in the cloud for cross-device streaming. It's a lot like iTunes Match actually, except Google isn't charging for it...

Apple now offering free next-day shipping on everything in its US web store

Apple has thrown in another nice perk that should appeal to last minute shoppers: the company's web store is now offering free next-day shipping on every item available in the store. Previously, only a select few products were eligible for free shipping, including the items listed on Apple's 2012 Holiday Gift Guide. Unfortunately, only US orders include free next-day shipping. Be that as it may, those that have not ordered their holiday gifts yet needn't despair as with this promotion your last minute purchases should be received in time for the holidays...

It looks like Sprint isn’t going to carry the free iPhone 4

When Apple unveiled its new smartphone last week, it also announced some changes to its iPhone lineup. For starters, the 16GB iPhone 4S is going to drop to just $99 with a two year contract.

In addition, the company is also getting rid of the 3GS, making the iPhone 4 its $0 offering. But according to some new information, it doesn't look like all providers are going to carry it...

Unfold 2.0 now available for free on Cydia

Lost amidst yesterday's well warranted hype for the iPhone 5, was the release of Unfold 2.0 — a jailbreak tweak available on Cydia.

Unfold 2.0 allows for an accordion unlock style, in either a horizontal or vertical direction. It can be had for free on Cydia's BigBoss repo. Watch the video, and let us know what you think.

CoverMeNot doubles the status bar height for improved banner notifications

CoverMeNot is a brand new jailbreak tweak that does something extremely simple, yet just as brilliant — it doubles the height of your status bar when a notification banner appears on screen. This prevents the banner from covering up the content on your iPhone — hence the name.

Once the banner notification times out, the status bar is resized back to normal. If you're tired of incoming banner notifications covering up your on screen content, then you need to try CoverMeNot...
