France Telecom CEO Pegs October 15 Release Date for iPhone 5

Another day, another random telecom CEO saying things that shouldn't be said. France Telecom CEO Stéphane Richard has suggested that Apple will release the iPhone 5 on October 15th.

This particular CEO has a history of speaking on Apple-related matters, so take this claim with a grain of salt. It is worth noting that Richard's projected date does match up with rumors that have pegged Apple's iPhone announcement to take place in late-September, with carrier availability in early to mid-October...

Sprint All But Confirms the iPhone 5

All of the evidence is beginning to point toward an October release for the iPhone 5, and Sprint has all but confirmed that fact, with the nation's third largest carrier telling its staff that they cannot take any vacation time between September 30th and October 15th.

Sprint Raises Early Termination Fee to $350, iPhone Incoming?

Sprint has increased its early termination fee from $200 to $350, bringing it in line with both AT&T and Verizon. The new fee only applies to 'advanced devices' which, we assume, means smartphones and tablets.

According to an article on CNET, the fee will be prorated for now, depending on how long you have left on your current contract, which kind of makes sense. And that's the reason we're surprised Sprint is making this move...

Much like Google's buyout of Motorola Mobility we told you about a few weeks ago, I don't think anyone saw the AT&T/T-Mobile deal coming. The nation's second largest carrier unveiled it's plans earlier this year to acquire the operator for $39 Billion.

iPhones for everyone! Yesterday, we told you about the report that Sprint would offer the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 to its customer base this Fall, and now a new rumor has surfaced that T-Mobile will also carry the iPhone 5 when it launches in the coming months.

The new device from Apple will allegedly run on T-Mobile's 3G network, and the iPhone 5 is expected to be a global phone capable of running on both CDMA and GSM networks...

As of right now, the iPhone is only available on two major wireless carriers here in the United States. AT&T, which was originally the sole carrier of the iPhone, and now Verizon both offer the device.

Rumors have been circulating over the past several months suggesting that Apple will finally extend the iPhone to both T-Mobile and Sprint this Fall, but so far there has been no official announcement.

Now, The Wall Street Journal has decided to chime in on the matter, and is reporting that a Sprint-branded iPhone is a lock for this October...

Verizon to Offer $20 Data Plan, Serves up 300MB per Month

In this day in age it seems like carriers are more focused on "streamlining" their wireless plans rather than introducing new ones. In fact, AT&T followed up its unlimited data plan-ban by getting rid of its $10 SMS package.

Verizon, on the other hand, has just introduced a new wireless plan to serve up data for low-end customers. The $20 per month plan will give users 300MB of data per month, and is available now through September 30. Read on for more details...

One of the most popular debates regarding the iPhone 5 is whether or not it will be 4G compatible. The next generation of 4G network standards are catching on quickly here in the states, as the new technology is substantially faster than its 3G predecessor.

While several Android devices with the new technology have already been introduced, it's widely believed that Apple's next handset won't have 4G capability.
