OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 beta 1 also seeded to developers

Just over two weeks after posting OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 for public consumption, Apple this morning seeded the first beta of OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 to its registered developers. A fifth major update to the the most recent operating system powering the Mac, OS X 10.11.5 includes bug fixes, performance improvements and general security and stability fixes.

It is not expected to bring any major user-facing features. The new beta carries a build number of 15F18b and can be installed on computers running a prior OS X beta through the Mac App Store's Updates tab.

Apple seeds tvOS 9.2.1 beta 1 to developers

In addition to iOS 9.3.2 and watchOS 2.2.1, Apple on Wednesday released the first beta for tvOS 9.2.1 to developers. To update, you'll have to connect your Apple TV 4 to a computer and install the software via iTunes or Apple Configurator.

Todays release comes two weeks after Apple pushed out tvOS 9.2 to the public. That was a significant update, bringing about several user-facing changes such as support for app folders and Bluetooth keyboards, as well as new Siri features.

Apple seeds watchOS 2.2.1 to developers

Apple today seeded the first beta of watch OS 2.2.1 to the members of its Apple Developer Program. The pre-release software can be installed on an Apple Watch through the My Watch → General → Software Update section within the companion Watch app running on an iPhone with the new iOS 9.3.2 beta, which was also seeded to developers this morning.

The software came with a build number of 13V413 and arrived approximately two weeks following the public release of the watchOS 2.2 firmware, a minor update for the Apple Watch that brought out an improved Maps app, support for multi-watch pairing and other tidbits.

Apple on Wednesday seeded the first beta of iOS 9.3.2 to developers. The update is available to registered developers either via an over-the-air update, or as a standalone download through Apple's online developer center.

Today's beta comes a little more than two weeks after iOS 9.3 was released to the public. That firmware is a sizable one for a "." update, bringing about several changes such as NightShift mode and Password protected notes.

Just 24 hours after seeding iOS 9.3 beta 7 to developers and public testers, Apple on Tuesday released a seventh beta of the forthcoming OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 software update.

The new version with a build number of 15E64a is available as an over-the-air update through the Mac App Store's Purchased tab on Macs authorized for software development through the Apple Developer Program and on computers enrolled into the Apple Beta Software Program.

Apple on Monday released iOS 9.3 beta 7 to developers and public testers. The update is available in both Apple’s dev center and public testing portal, as well as via an over-the-air update for folks running the previous beta.

Today’s seed comes less than a week week after the previous beta 6, which brought about various changes and improvements to Night Shift mode, and some two months after the original 9.3 beta was pushed to developers.

Thursday, Apple seeded a sixth beta of the upcoming tvOS 9.2 software update for the fourth-generation Apple TV to the members of the Apple Developer Program.

The new tvOS 9.2 beta 6 has a build number of “13Y5232a” and is available as an over-the-air update on new Apple TVs with a configuration profile installed.

The restore image to side-load tvOS betas on Apple TVs via iTunes or Apple Configurator using a USB-C to USB-A cable is on Apple's portal for developers.

Along with the latest betas of watchOS, tvOS and OS X, Apple yesterday seeded a fifth beta of the upcoming iOS 9.3 software update to its registered developers. The new beta appears to pack in a few interesting changes as Apple continues to refine the experience ahead of the software's public release.

Night Shift mode, one of the headline new features in iOS 9.3, has been tweaked again in the latest beta and now permits users to manually enable the feature until tomorrow within Settings, and the feature is now automatically disabled in Low Power Mode.

Apple on Tuesday released iOS 9.3 beta 5 to developers. The update is available for members of Apple’s develop program (and public testing program) either via an OTA update, for those already on iOS 9.3, or as a download from Apple’s dev center.

Today’s release comes just one week after the previous beta 4, which added a redesigned Night Shift mode icon in Control Center and other under-the-hood improvements, and nearly two months after the original 9.3 beta was pushed to developers.

Apple on Tuesday pushed out the fifth beta of OS X 10.11.4 to both developers and public testers. The beta is available either via the Mac App Store, in the Updates tab, for those who are already running 10.11.4, or on the websites of each of the respective testing programs.

Today's beta comes one week after Apple seeded 10.11.4 beta 4 to developers, and nearly two months after the first beta was released. It's mostly under-the-hood improvements, but it does include a few new features such as Live Photo support and password-protected Notes.

Latest iOS 9.3 beta fixes 1970 bug that bricks devices

The iOS 9.3 beta released earlier this week includes a fix for the 'January 1, 1970' bug that has been bricking devices, reports MacRumors. The site points to its forums, where multiple users found that their devices stuck in boot loops were able to be restored to working order via an update to beta 4.

The fix is two-fold. Folks with the beta installed say that you can no longer move the time on December 31, 2000 past 7 p.m.—disabling the bug entirely, since this prevents you from scrolling back to 1970. And as mentioned above, the new firmware can also unbrick devices affected by the glitch.
