That Tapered iPhone 5 Design? It’s Still Coming

Before Apple's iPhone 4S announcement this week, there were more than a few rumors going around that the next iPhone would be a radical redesign of the device. A new, tapered body was to be the main, eye-catching alteration to the form factor that has served Apple so well over the last year or so.

As we all know, that didn't happen. Instead, Apple launched the iPhone 4S, a slight speed-bump to the existing iPhone 4, with a new camera thrown in for good measure. Yes, Siri adds that little bit of sparkle to an otherwise dull release, but let's be frank, this is no iPhone 5.

So what about that tapered design we heard so much about? Well, we may still see it, even if that won't be until this time next year...

When Apple announced the iPhone 4S on Tuesday, there was no mention of just how much RAM the new handset was packing. This didn't seem too odd at the time, after all, Apple doesn't usually for the Android approach of listing specifications in a hope to garner sales.

What is interesting is the revelation from Chair Entertainment’s creative director Donald Mustard, who claims that the iPhone 4S only sports 512MB of RAM, not the presumed 1GB...

AT&T Extends Return Policy Due to 4S Announcement

Good news for folks who pulled the trigger a little too early on buying an iPhone with AT&T in the last 60 days. ModMyi announced this morning that the carrier will be extending its 30-day return policy for recent iPhone purchasers.

Apple Stock on the Rise Despite the Terrible News

Just like when Steve Jobs resigned from his CEO duties in August, Apple stock is slightly up this morning, despite the terrible news. With the death of the company's visionary, I expected the stock to be down a bit, but it's not at all.

Although Apple touted its new smartphone yesterday as "capable" of 4G-like speeds, the iPhone 4S isn't getting the "4G" label. The handset still essentially uses 3G technology, debunking the last-minute rumors that the device would be LTE-capable.

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution, and it's a common choice for carriers looking to go 4G. The technology has been really popular in Android devices over the last several months, so why didn't we see it in the new iPhone?

This time, the Korean electronics giant filed requests for preliminary injunction in France and Italy, citing two patent infringements related to wireless telecommunications technology, specifically Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) standards for 3G mobile handsets.

The goal of this legal operation? Blocking the iPhone 4S sales in those two countries...
