Gorgeous floral installation comes to life in London to promote Apple Watch

Apple Watch advertising has been amped up quite a bit with news of a remarkable eye-candy floral display which promotes the wearable device at Selfridges, a chain of high end department stores in the UK founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge.

According to design outlet Wallpaper, two dozen floral displays that wrap around Selfridges’ flagship store in London sport blooming flowers and other floral motifs directly inspired by the Motion face on the Apple Watch.

As Apple News launch draws nearer, Flipboard rolls out new personalization features

After iOS 9 launches this fall, reading aficionados and news junkies will have a field day consolidating their reading experience via a brand new Flipboard-like app.

Called News, it basically aggregates news stories and popular blog posts from around the web and presents them in a beautifully decluttered view with smooth layouts made possible by the new Apple News format.

But Flipboard isn't standing still either.

Today, the social news aggregator service began rolling out some changes to its mobile app which it designed to help users fine-tune their Cover Stories view using an all-new thumbs-up and thumbs-down system.

1Password for iOS gains quick vault switcher, Touch ID and Apple Watch updates and more

1Password, the popular password manager for iOS, OS X and Windows by developer AgileBits, today received a nice little update in the App Store which bumped the app to version 5.5 and brought out a couple notable improvements.

In addition to a brand new quick vault switcher, 1Password 5.5 contains improvements to TouchID authentication, shared lock settings, browsing Credit Card items on your Apple Watch and other tidibts.

Apple bringing its watch to more retail outlets in France

The Apple Watch will be available in some additional locations in France beginning tomorrow, August 21, French blog iPhoneAddict reported Thursday.

In addition to Apple's own brick-and-mortar and online stores which have been carrying the device in the country since its April 24 unveiling, customers in Paris will be able to pick up the device through the Fnac online store and its flagship retail outlet at the famous Champs Elysées.

Sharp and Foxconn rumored to build and assemble touch modules for iPad Pro

The plot is thickening following yesterday's analyst report that Apple's larger-screened iPad is entering mass production in September and October and recent sightings of an unreleased “iPad6,8” model with a screen resolution of 2,732-by-2,048 pixels in commercial app analytics data.

According to Asian trade publication DigiTimes, Japanese giant Sharp and Foxconn, the world's top product assembler, will be supplying touch modules for the larger iPad, tentatively dubbed by the press the iPad Pro.

Samsung to appeal to Supreme Court in Apple patent case

As expected, Samsung is taking its patent battle with Apple to the United States Supreme Court. The San Jose Mercury News points to a new court filing from the company, which voices its intent to ask the Supreme Court to hear its case.

In 2012, Samsung was found guilty of infringing on multiple Apple patents and was ordered to pay Apple more than $1 billion in damages. That amount has since been cut in half, but Samsung is hoping to get the sum further reduced.

iOS 7 continues to account for thirteen percent of iOS devices, with older iOS versions continuing to scrape out a mere two percent. A month ago, iOS 8 adoption stood at the 85 percent mark and iOS 7 comprised thirteen percent of iOS hardware in the wild.

iPad Pro with 2,732-by-2,048 screen reportedly appears in iOS app analytics

The so-called iPad Pro is indeed real and rocks a 2,732-by-2,048 pixel resolution screen as previously indicated, analytics firm AppSee said Wednesday. The firm captured the device's identifier in user logs: the iPad Pro identified itself as “iPad6,8.”

The first number designates a major hardware refresh and the second one variations within a generation.

By comparison, the iPad Air 2 model identifiers are “iPad5,3” and ”iPad5,4” for their respective Wi-Fi and cellular editions.
