Online availability eases as iPad rolls out to 12 new countries today

As announced, the new iPad is expanding today to twelve additional countries. Meanwhile, availability of the device further eases in the United States, with the company's online store now showing 5-7 day deliveries, an improvement over previous delivery times of between 1-2 weeks.

Today's expansion to twelve markets and an additional roll out to nine countries later this month will improve iPad availability to a total of 57 countries.

Apple Stores reportedly readying local iCloud backups for iOS devices requiring replacement

A new report out yesterday alleges that Apple is working on an interesting new solution for Geniuses at its retail stores that would bypass the need for tethered desktop iTunes or wireless iCloud backups for people seeking iOS device replacements.

The solution would let Geniuses to quickly and effortlessly backup your entire iPad, iPhone or iPod touch prior to the device exchange process. Likewise, Geniuses would later on be able to easily move that data back onto the replacement devices.

The solution is reportedly being prototyped at Apple’s top-secret Apple Store labs near the company’s Cupertino, California headquarters...

Some Apple Stores replacing iPhone 4 models with iPhone 4S

9to5Mac is reporting this weekend that Apple is experiencing "atypical inventory shortages" of white 16GB iPhone 4 replacement units. As a result, it seems like [at least] some iPhone 4 users seeking hardware replacements could be in for a nice surprise.

According to the report, Apple has instructed some of its Apple Store Genius Bars to start replacing problematic white 16GB iPhone 4 models with compatible iPhone 4S units...

Apple caught testing new virtual tour feature for its online store

For those of you who missed it, Apple's website went offline last night around 7pm PST. Every once in a while, this can signal the coming of new products. But when the site returned, only minor changes were spotted.

MacMagazine, however, is reporting that Apple used the site's downtime to test out an interesting new feature for its online store. The addition would allow sales specialists to demonstrate products to customers via the web...

Apple stores in London gearing up for Olympic “onslaught”

Apple's retail stores in London are gearing up for the Olympics as the company is reportedly stocking them with iOS gadgets, as well as international replacement MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and MacBook keyboards.

According to sources, the company is expecting an "onslaught" of journalists and international Olympic visitors and wants to bank on on a foot traffic increase.

We're talking an expected extra 325,000 daily visitors to London for the games, in addition to 10,000 print journalists alone.

Apple revamping online store for educators with “dramatically simplified user interface”

Forget the new iPad, here comes the new online Apple store! According to a credible report, the company is informing its K-12 shoppers to get ready for the new online shopping experience. It's kinda semi-official now as Apple's notice announcing the redesign has been spotted in the store's section dedicated to kindergarten through 12th grade institutions.

For now, the company appears to be simply teasing the upcoming changes and it's unclear whether the new shopping experience will be limited to K-12 buyers only. Be that as it may, with such a diverse portfolio of products spanning lots of product variants and families, a store revamp can't hurt.

In China, security guards fight over Apple’s upcoming “world’s biggest store”

The world's biggest Apple store inside a shopping mall? Pictured above is the huge Parkland Mall shopping mall in Dalian, China, reportedly slated to become the home to the company's biggest retail outlet to date. The obligatory sign is already outside the mall and it reads “Apple’s World’s Biggest Flagship Store will be coming soon”.

Need more evidence? Well, only a flagship Apple store in the making could provoke crazy mall wars as a rival shopping center dispatched its security team to push down Apple's barricades outside the Parkland Mall.

Woman sues Apple after walking into one of its retail store’s glass doors

Just when we thought we had heard it all, this story surfaced. CBS New York is reporting that an 83-year old woman has filed a lawsuit against Apple after she sustained injuries walking into a glass door at its Manhassett Store in Long Island, NY.

The woman's name is Evelyn Paswall, and she's going after Apple for a staggering $1 million dollars in medical expenses and punitive damages. Apparently Evenlyn broke her nose during the incident, and is now suing the company for negligence...

Fifth Avenue Apple Store sold over 13,000 iPads in first 12 hours

Earlier today, both AT&T and Apple announced that they saw record-breaking iPad sales over the weekend. Neither company, however, gave any kind of specific sales figures.

So while everyone is speculating — we've heard it's well over a million — The Verge has gotten some ballpark estimates from the popular Fifth Avenue Apple Store in New York City...

Lines start forming around the world ahead of iPad launch

If you were thinking that the new iPad's lack of a redesigned body or quad-core CPU was going to affect customer demand, think again. In typical pre-launch fashion, lines are forming around the world for Apple's new tablet.

Although most retailers won't be opening their doors until 8am tomorrow morning, some stores have announced that they will start selling the new iPad as early as 12:01 EST here in the States...
