Fox, CBS to live stream Super Bowl and NFC/AFC playoff coverage on the web and iOS

Just like last year and the year before (and 2011, for that matter), football die-hards in the United States will once again be able to watch the NFC and AFC playoff games and follow live Super Bowl XLVIII coverage on the web and via their iOS devices, thanks to Fox and CBS.

But unlike before, Fox will not require a paid cable subscription to live stream the Super Bowl through their Fox Sports Go iOS app.

NFC playoff games, however, will still require authentication through your cable service provider such as Comcast, AT&T U-Verse, Cablevision and others...

Anki Drive app updated with new weapons, support items and more

Folks who received the Anki Drive for Christmas this year will be happy to hear that the companion app has received a major update today. The new version, which is marked as version 2.1.0, adds an expanded upgrade system, new weapons and much more.

The new weapons include an EMP gun, which lets you shoot other cars as they race along the track, and the new support items include reverse drive, horn and kinetic brake. The update also features other improvements, such as smarter AI and faster upgrades...

Yahoo revamps Sports app for iOS 7, adds GIF creation tool and more

In time for the Playoff,s Yahoo's free Sports app for the iPhone and iPad has been updated this morning with some nicely flattened iOS 7 visuals along with refreshed stats and new features such as a GIF creation tool, personalized navigation menus, updated pages for the football scores, teams and players and lots more.

TweetDeck for Mac updated with Direct Message photos and more

Fans of the popular Twitter client TweetDeck will happy to hear that they've posted a new version of their Mac app today. The update, which brings the app to version 3.5.5 includes a handful of new features and bug fixes.

With version 3.5.5, users are now able to take advantage of Twitter's new Direct Message photo service, which allows you to send and receive photos via DM. The update also adds some custom Timeline options, and more...

Vimeo update brings back Search to iPad, adds video actions

Vimeo, the popular video-sharing service, has updated its free iPhone and iPad application by bringing back the search feature to the iPad and adding the ability to tap and hold video thumbnails to share, download "and do other fun stuff".

Though originally part of the experience, the ability to search for videos got inexplicably removed as part of Vimeo's major iOS 7 overhaul.

The team re-enabled search on iPhone and iPod touch devices in mid-October and now the feature is finally making a comeback on iPads...

Tweetbot 3 gains support for viewing images in Direct Messages

One of the most-loved Twitter clients for the iPhone and iPad, Tapbots' Tweetbot, has been updated with the ability to view images included in Direct Messages.

Available as a free update in the App Store, Tweetbot version 3.2.1 brings various bug fixes and the ability to view images attached to Direct Messages.

Twitter has enabled image attachments in Direct Messages two weeks ago and Tweetbot is among the first apps to support this neat little feature...

Fitbit updated with MobileTrack feature via iPhone 5s’s M7 motion coprocessor

The list of apps enabled for Apple's power-efficient motion tracking chip, the M7, just keeps on growing. Fitbit, one of the finest fitness apps in the App Store, has been bumped up to version 2.1, now available in the App Store, and can now use the iPhone 5s's motion tracking chip to monitor your activity without draining your device's battery or having the app active for that matter.

M7 support has also made possible a new MobileTrack feature that allows you to use some of Fitbit's tracking features, but without buying the company's wearable tracking accessories. More on that and other changes in this Fitbit update right below...

Tweetbot for Mac updated with major bug fixes

Popular Twitter client Tweetbot posted an update for its Mac application this weekend, bringing the app to version 1.4.1. The update looks fairly minor on the surface, but it includes a handful of serious bug fixes.

Long-time Tweetbot for Mac users will be happy to hear that the new version finally fixes that pesky issue where you can see "x unread items" but can't scroll up to see them, and various other interface annoyances...

German developer Cultured Code is celebrating the millionth sale of Things, it's high-end to-do and productivity application for the iPhone, iPad and Mac, so the team fittingly announced the upcoming arrival of Things 3. A major revision, Things 3 will bring substantial user interface redesign but it won't be just about the looks as Cultured Code promised some "great new features" to go with the redesign.
