Airmail 1.5 for iOS gains Workflow integration, custom actions & more

Airmail, the cross-platform email client by developer Bloop, has received a refresh on the App Store sporting a few noteworthy enhancements. Airmail 1.5 for iOS, a $4.99 download from the App Store, features integrations with the Bear Notes app and the popular iOS automation app Workflow. Other changes in Airmail 1.5 include new custom actions and Gmail authentication, the ability to select your default inbox, a new OpenURL action and minor fixes.

Apple: App Store shattered records on New Year’s Day

Apple on Thursday announced that the App Store broke records on the first of January. The company says New Year's Day was the Store's single busiest day ever with nearly $240 million in revenue.

The day put a nice cap on a record-breaking holiday season and year. Apple says App Store purchases topped $3 billion in December alone, and developers were paid more than $20 billion in 2016.

Apple removes New York Times apps from Chinese App Store

Apple removed news apps created by The New York Times from the App Store in China late last month. The Times itself says that it spoke with the iPhone-maker, and it was told that the removal was in response to a request from Chinese authorities.

The Chinese government began blocking NYT websites in 2012, following a series of articles on the wealth amassed by the family of then-prime minister Wen Jiabao. This latest move limits access to one of its few remaining channels in the country.

This app helps you find your lost AirPods

Finder for Airpods is a new iPhone app that aims to ease user concerns of losing their new wireless earbuds. Using your AirPod's wireless signature, the app can search for your missing earbuds and even tell you if you are getting closer or further away.

How does it work? Well once you've noticed you've misplaced an AirPod, just fire up the Finder app on your iPhone, close the lid of your charging case and move about the area you suspect you lost it. The app's meter will tell you when or if you get close.

Update: Apple has pulled this app from the App Store. The developer explains "they didn't find anything wrong with the app itself, but rather they they didn't like the 'concept' of people finding their Airpods and hence was deemed 'not appropriate for the App Store." Friendly Run event launches in Super Mario Run, earn Rally Tickets no matter if you win or lose

After launching a new Friendly Run mode in Super Mario Run six days ago, Nintendo today announced a limited-time Friendly Run event that gives you a little bonus for playing Friendly Run. No matter if you win or lose, playing Friendly Run during the event earns you some free Rally Tickets.

The event is running from December 27, 2016 8:00am to January 11, 2017 07:59am.

Nintendo celebrates 50 million Super Mario Run downloads by giving you 10 free Rally Tickets

Super Mario Run has cleared fifty million downloads in only seven days following its December 15 debut on the App Store, Nintendo Japan announced on Twitter Friday. In celebration of the latest achievement, Nintendo is giving all Super Mario Run players ten Rally Tickets for free.

A recent Nintendo survey asked a subset of Super Mario Run players who linked the game with their My Nintendo account how much they'd be willing to pay for the full game.

As you know, Super Mario Run can be downloaded at no charge, but a $9.99 upgrade is required to remove the restrictions from the three game modes and unlock its content beyond the first four levels of World 1.

Some people were so disgruntled with the high upgrade price that they wrote poor reviews on App Store, causing Nintendo’s share price to fall. Wouldn't it be great if Super Mario Run was a free to play title like Pokémon GO is? Well, PocketGamer took it upon itself to create some very illustrative mockups that imagine the parallel universe where Super Mario Run is free to play.
